Mindset – Do You Need To Work on it Everyday?
My answer is only the days you want to be consciously creating your life and results.
Otherwise go with the flow (just kidding).
First let’s look at the definition of mindset.
Online dictionary …….Noun 1. mindset – a habitual or characteristic mental attitude that determines how you will interpret and respond to situations
Dictionary.com says……..— n the ideas and attitudes with which a person approaches a situation, esp when these are seen as being difficult to alter
Mindset in Business
In our business clearly we are going to have challenges and obstacles along the way. It is our mindset that will determine how we handle them.
I was prompted to write this post after listening to several stories from people in the Empower Network. It got me thinking about the top earners in various network marketing companies. I could not think of anyone I have listened to who did not credit a huge part of their success to mindset and personal development.
Empower Network has 8 core commitments it suggests the affiliates do each day. Two of the core commitments are around improving our mindset. .. They are read daily and listen to an audio (meaning personal development).
There were a couple of people who were sharing their recent success on a hangout last week. They both had realized they were doing all the other core commitments daily but not the mindset.
One was a young mom and she did not feel she could fit all the activities in so she cut out the mindset part. Because she was not getting the results she wanted she decided to include the reading and listening to audios and instantly her results increased.
Another person who is an example of daily mindset working for him is Ray Higdon. If you do not know who Ray is he is the top income earner in his MLM. My husband and I purchased his course called “The Power Mind” last year. He shared tip after tip on improving your mindset. What Ray feeds his brain and his daily rituals are very conscious and consistent.
If you do not know Ray’s story, he went from foreclosure to being number one income earner of his company in a very short time. You do not do that without the right mindset.
Success leaves clues!
Daily Mindset – My confession time
Hearing these stories last week made me realise I had not been as diligent of recent times with my daily rituals. I had fallen into some days short cutting them. I used to get out of bed and read, do my gratitude and say various affirmations.
Reflecting on the times in my life when I have been very disciplined in including more personal development in my daily routine I know my results are better.
Mindset – Do You Need To Work on it Everyday? – I believe we do.
If you believe in Law of Attraction then you need to guard your thinking very carefully.
Esther and the late Jerry Hicks have written many books on the subject. They have this to say on the subject……………
“In the same way that there is not an instant wanted thing manifesting in your experience, there is not instant unwanted thing happening in your experience. It takes some adapting to vibrations. If you’ve managed to hold anything, wanted or unwanted, for 17 seconds — there is a coalescing of thought that takes you a little closer to the vibration of whatever you are turning your attention to. Those 17 second increments, are not discernable. And that’s why, when you get into that place, it feels like instant manifestation. Just like when you get into that negative place, it feels like instant manifestation. It’s like, “Where did that come from? Seemed like it just sort of snuck up on me,” instead of snuck up over a long time.”

When it comes to mindset, I believe it really depends on the person. Some people are all ready well in tuned with their purpose and what they have to do, while others still have a lot of limited beliefs that they’re struggling with.
For those that feel like it’s a uphill battle, then definitely for them they should listen to mindset audios everyday. One training audio I really like is Jerry and Esther (Abraham) Hicks. This really open my eyes a lot and definitely recommend their audios.
Thanks for sharing Sue!
Sue Price says
Hi Sherman
I agree many people are in tune with their purpose and maybe do not need daily rituals as much as people with limiting beliefs. I do think though that even those with more supportive type of thinking will benefit from a daily practice.
I tend to think of our mind like our body. If we do yoga everyday our body will be flexible and strong. If we think our body is flexible and strong and stop doing yoga it will decline. I think our mind is the same. Just my opinion.
I too love Abraham via Esther Hicks. I get the daily email, have read several of their books and listen quite regularly to their meditations. Sometimes when I get the daily email I am sure it was written just for me 🙂
Thanks for your comments here Sherman, I appreciate it.

I’m not sure if you have to work on it daily, but I guess if you think of it as a part of your mental workout, you should do it at least 2-3 times a week, like your other gym time 😉 . That might help you with giving you some balance, so that you are not constantly preoccupied with yourself and “am I working on my mindset” but will give you some structure thru the week to think about things which are important.
Sue Price says
Hi Dankas
It definitely needs to be a regular thing and I really do think it needs to be daily. If that does not work for someone then 2-3 times a week as you suggest is better than nothing.
I think giving gratitude daily, for example, is not really being preoccupied with yourself but rather counting your blessings. For me I read something inspirational every day and it is just part of what I do.
Thanks for your comment. I went over to your website and unfortunately I cannot read a word of it. I would love to know what it is about.

Counting blessings daily and having gratitude is definitely one of those things you want to have implemented as a part of your mindset. No argue about that one 😉

Hi Sue,
Absolutely, we need to work on our mindset everyday and I am guilty of not doing it everyday. I consistently ‘say thank you’ to God everyday. Have it set in my phone 4 times a day to ring so that I am reminded. Our lives are so busy, it is difficult to just remember to say ‘Thank You.’ But I need to pick up some more daily affirmations as well as other mindset changes. Thank you for reminding me of what needs to be done. I do believe mindset development leads to your success.
Barbara
Sue Price says
Hi Barbara
I think the fact you say thank you to God 4 times a day is a great start and you are doing something daily. I agree it is difficult when we are busy to fit everything in. The thing is though working on our mindset is probably the most important. I too am guilty of skipping days but am now scheduling daily activities.
Thanks for your comment Barabara

I have to say I never thought about it. I remember Ken Pickard mentioning this many times, but never gave ti much thought to myself actually. When I get up, I am thankful for the opportunity to go to work and accomplish my goals, but I can’t say I can’t say I have really done it any other way. I would be interested in seeing and reading what you mentioned above and see how I can apply it to my life.
Sue Price says
Hi Sonia
Being thankful when you get up is a good start and setting your mindset in the right direction. For me I have been around personal development all my life so it is part of my world.
I would love to know what experience you have if you do incorporate some of those activities.
Thanks for your comment and have a great rest of your week Sonia.

How wonderful Sue!
Mindset is something we need to work on every day. After doing it, it does become a habit. There are so many ways to keep your mindset sharp and clear. When you skip that part in business like the woman you have mentioned, there will be not much success in business.
Mindset is something people do forget but I think it is the most important part of business. When we go through our daily routines of improving our mindset, it not only becomes a habit, but we hunger for more.
Learning and applying never ends. I love improving my mindset and it excites me to learn new ways all the time.
Donna
Sue Price says
Hi Donna
I knew you would agree it has to be daily. I also know you do it. As you say it does become a habit like anything we do for long enough.
Oh I so agree it is the most important part of business. I see it where I live with small business owners. There are those that whinge about the economy and and how bad things are and others that are just making it happen. Same town and circumstances.
I am like you I love improving and I believe it is part of our journey in life.
Thanks for your contribution to this Donna.

I also agree Sue that it’s something everyone should work on everyday. Even those that are successful and know what it takes will tell you that once you start thinking “I’ve made it” and you stop with your routines then you’ll be hit harder down the road because we all will start taking it for granted. Like, we’ve made it so we don’t need that anymore.
I do my daily routine as well no matter what day it is. Now I don’t read new material everyday like I should but I do have my two daily devotionals I religiously read everyday as well as say my gratitudes and write down my afformations. Can I do more? Absolutely and I should. I think there is always some excuse getting in our way but thank you for that reminder Sue. We all need one of those from time to time.
Enjoy your week and thanks for this post.

Hi Adrienne
Oh yes I agree and I am guilty of stopping at times in my life when results were coming thick and fast and just like you said I was hit hard.
You have a good routine and being regular is excellent. Reading is great and I am sure even if you read a chapter a day you would benefit. You know though you read blogs so much and you visit some personal development blogs so you are reading. Maybe not books but I do not think that matters.
I really was inspired to write this post hearing several people attribute increased income to doing more mindset training.
Thanks for your contribution and you too have a great week Adrienne.

Sue,
You really made me think on this. I was wondering if there were days I could just turn it off, but then I thought, no, because those would be the days I simply cannot mentally work.
My mind would be scattered and not focused. Even if I have a negative mindset, I might as well end the day and go ride my bike, forget work.
I was wondering, even if a business has an awesome product, without the correct mindset of the owner the business can go under. What do you think?
~Allie
Sue Price says
Hi Allie
I think the days we want to turn off can still be days we practice gratitude. As you say if you have a negative mindset going for a ride is great. If you are present to the surrounds and enjoy the ride it is going to improve your mindset. There are many ways we can do this.
You raise a great question in that even if a business has an awesome product without the correct mindset can that business still fail. I believe yes it can. Will it always I am not sure but I think success will be more difficult.
I said to Donna “I see it where I live with small business owners. There are those that whinge about the economy and and how bad things are and others that are just making it happen. Same town and circumstances.” – I think they are examples.
Another example is a friend of mine who has a very successful internet business. Some years back he went through a very severe depression and it was not at all successful then. When he changed some things in the way he thought things took off.
Thanks for your comment Allie and have a great week.

Hi Sue,
Indeed, mindset is THE most important factor to success. As this young mom proves it, when she took the extra time an effort to include mindset management in her schedule some positive things started to happen.
One thing that I’ve noticed a long time ago is that for a lot of newbies the mindset part is something very foreign to them, and that the missing link. They see those successful top earners and they “think” that is all in the “doing things”, but it’s not. A lot of their money comes from their mind set, and the money just follows that trail.
Thank you for this excellent post 🙂 and reminding us of the importance of mindset.
Sue Price says
Hi Sylviane
I knew you would agree 🙂
Yes I too have noticed the newer people thinking it is in the doing. The young mom I was referring to was exactly like that. She even started asking people what their real secret was and she kept hearing mindset, belief and words like that. She thought they were keeping something from her. Then she finally got it!
I know we can all get busy with the doing at times but it is good to remember what is really important.
Thanks for your words of wisdom on this one Sylviane.
Have a good rest of your week.

Sue,
I think this is something that absolutely needs to be done on a daily basis. Do I do it like I should – No. I know that I should do more. I have in the past been really good about doing personal development everyday. I do something most days but need to really have a schedule and stick to it.
I think we can see a difference when we do personal development and when we don’t. I does not need to be a lot but needs to be something.
Thanks for a great post.

Hi Dee Ann
I think most of us are guilty at times of not making the time for our personal development. We feed ourselves food as our body needs it and I think our mind is just the same. It needs positive input.
It is great you do something most days and your clearly know it works for you. Scheduling it defiantly helps.
Thanks for your comment Dee Ann.

Sue,
I LOVE this post. I am a true believer that a positive mindset is key to everything in life. I have positive affirmations that pop up every hour on my phone. However, I don’t have a scheduled time for gratitude and I need to add that into my daily routine. Thanks for the reminder. Warmest regards, Lisa
Sue Price says
Hi Lisa
I love the idea of affirmations popping up on the phone. Thanks for the great tip. I like to schedule gratitude to make sure I do but sometimes . I do it while I walk in the mornings.
Thanks for your comment Lisa and have a great week.

Hi Sue,
Great insights on the importance of the mindset. Personally, I do not place as much emphasis on mindset as I used to be. The main reason “being in tuned with their purpose and what they have to do” as described by Sherman Smith.
Having said that, I must emphasize the days when I spent hours and hours every day on any material that relates to success mindset. I merged myself in FEELING successful. Jeffrey Combs has helped me to realize of being ‘in the flow’. Dani Johnson has helped me to arrive at today’s ‘stubborn’ and non-stoppable mindset. I always suggest others not to underestimate the power of the mind.
Great work, Sue!

Hi Viola
I agree having a purpose and being in tuned with it is very important. I have not studied Sherman Smith and sounds like another one I should check out. I think being mindful of our purpose and taking steps in tune with it is very important.
There are countless books and ways we can support ourselves in our growth, you have names some good ones here, thank you. For me the most important thing is to be purposeful and create the life we want.
Thanks for your contribution Viola and have a great week.

I have a different philosophy when it comes to mindset work. Go for direct experience, learn from it and apply it, everything else is unconfirmed rumour, probably lies.
Take it like this, I don’t know if I’m on the right track sometimes but I am incredibly resistant to any effort to make me think I’m not…on the right track.

Hi Cristian
You have an interesting point of view and I am not sure I really follow you so I will not try and make it up. Thanks for your contribution.

Hi Sue, yet again a wonderful post. For me too, I feel one needs to set the mindset first and not only this, one needs to understand the situation, analyze and make ready to switch the setting of mind according to time and need, As of me, I am not yet doing this setup on daily basis.
Sue Price says
Hi Koj
Thanks for the feedback on the post. I agree with you that we need to be able to switch our mindset to different situations. I have not always done the mindset work on a daily basis either but I know I get better results and am happier when I do.
Thanks for your contribution Koj and have a great day.

Hey Sue, I didn’t know how powerful mindset was until later. I started to listen to audios and read books that really resonated with me. I’ve noticed how I’ve grown and become more in touch with myself.
I got hooked on Abraham Hicks. I’ve noticed that a lot of the spiritual teachers (Jesus, Buddha, and Mohommad) all taught the same thing. And it’s funny how the more you become linked to yourself, the more you’re in the zone, and the more you’ll start the get the results you want and the unexpected good results. Thanks for sharing!
Sue Price says
Hi Sherman
I do not think many of us know the power of mindset until we start on the journey of personal growth. I agree with you many of the teaching by the various spiritual and religious leaders say the same thing. Law of Attraction is not new it has always been. I think it has been repackaged to some extent to go with modern thinking.
Yes the results do flow when we are in the zone. Just like when someone has a lot of what appears bad luck I am sure it is because they are not having thoughts that are supportive.
Thanks for your contribution Sherman. I appreciate it.
Have a great day.

Raena Lynn says
Hi Sue,
Wow, what a powerful article. I believe mindset makes the difference between success and failure. I know when I am in the right mindset, I’m unstoppable when I get there. The trick is to practice getting there so I believe mindset work has to be done every day.
I didn’t realize how important mindset was when I started, but I now understand it is essential. When I started becoming aware of negative self talk, or worry, I began to change it. I always say…awareness is first. Then after awareness, I had to practice to switch or distract myself from any negativity. It is a choice. I saw positive results after a lot of practice. Reputable self development programs or mentors can help with the process. It really works.
The quote from Abraham is so interesting. I have not heard of the 17 second scenario, and it certainly is something to think about in a positive way. So when the negativity comes in, we have 17 seconds to change it! That is REALLY good to know! I’m pleased to hear that things are settling down for you.
Raena Lynn
Sue Price says
Hi Raena
I think you have said the most important thing in “Then after awareness, I had to practice to switch or distract myself from any negativity. It is a choice. I saw positive results after a lot of practice.” This is something I battled with for quite a long time. I became aware of how I should be thinking but did not know how to make changes. That is where daily practices are so important.
All the successful people I know work on their mindset daily. I think that is a clue to us all. Oh yes I love that we have 17 seconds to change our negative thoughts. It would not be good if we had no chance.
I am getting on top of things thanks Raena. I am grateful for my online friends including you who have given me so much support.
Thanks for your comment Raena and have a great week.
