Why is it Taking so Long to get Success Online?
Have your ever asked yourself this question?
Did you come online and expect to get success straight away? Did you have success straight away?
Almost everyone I know who is making, or trying to make their living online tells a story of struggle in the beginning. Every now and then we hear of someone who made good money in their first six months, but that is rare.
Other professions take time and learning
If we are going to do a profession or a trade we usually go to college, university or do an apprenticeship.
To become a CPA which is my first profession I went to University, got experience on the job and then did my CPA study. That took me years!
Somehow when I came online I thought I would have success much quicker. Now reflecting on the differences when I was studying to be an accountant it was a clear path. I was focused on one path of study and work.
Why should success online be different?
Fast forward to my online career and I was anything but focused.
I felt totally overwhelmed and did not know where to start.
I came online to build my Network Marketing business and also thought it would be nice to have some other streams of income with affiliate marketing. I knew I wanted multiple streams of income but had no idea where to start.
I was told I needed a WordPress blog as my “home”. For those of you that have been regular readers of my blog you will know I was also a technophobe when I came online. Despite this I did build my own blog and overcame my technical hangups.
I was blessed to have a couple of great teachers in Jodie Thompson and Kimberly Castleberry so at least getting started blogging was made easier for me.
So while I continued to “build my home” I totally forgot why I had come online! I do not think I am alone here I am sure others have had the same journey.
We all started not knowing what to do
Every one of us has to learn what to do online. We can spend years going around in circles or we can find a coach or system to support that learning. It is important to identify the activities that are dollar producing and focus first and foremost on those.
It is very easy to lose many hours in busy work online. You must remember you are running a business.
The Solution I found
Some months ago I joined an affiliate program after reading a blog post by Adrienne Smith. If you have not visited Adrienne’s blog do so as it has awesome content for online marketers.
This program is called the EZ Money Method (that is my affiliate link).
Now this program has a back end offer of Empower Network. I was already in Empower Network and not doing anything with it. The plus for me here was that because I was in Empower Network joining EZ Money Method allowed me to join the prosperity team.
The Prosperity Team offers the most awesome training I have found. I just wish it had been there when I started online.
On the weekend some of the guys from there (all earning more than $30K a month online) held a training on a Google Hangout. It was called Discover Our Proven Formula for Creating Rapid Success & Massive Success on the Internet. It is over 3 hours long but well worth the time to watch the replay if you are still trying to build your success. Prosperity Team Live Training.
In Summary
There is a learning curve when you come online. The main thing is you do not have to go it alone. There are people and systems to help you.
If you have enjoyed Why is it Taking so long to get Success Online please share it with your friends.

Getting a breakthrough like you had is key for any online marketer. In the mean time, it is important for marketers to keep laser focused forward in a persistent and consistent manner. EVentually they will ge that breakthrough. Thanks, Sue.
Sue Price says
Thanks for your comment Martin. I agree we need to be laser focused. Boy I have been anything but that for my first couple of years online.
It is all a learning process but picking something and sticking with it is important.
Have a good rest of your week.

Hey Sue,
I’m so glad that the EZ Money Method is working out so well for you and I know teaming up with Adam and Mike is an added plus. They have both come so far online and I love how they are able to help others do the same.
I might have to check out that training because as you know I’m not part of Empower Network.
Thank you for sharing this and like you said, making money online is no overnight thing but with persistence and consistency, it will come.

Sue Price says
Hi Adrienne
I am glad you introduced me to EZMM really because it does offer training for newbies. I love Mike’s style he is so lay back. Compared to the others on their marathon hang out last week Mike was just there relaxed while the others are all a bit hyped.
Mike does a daily webinar for the team who are in Empower. They have been very generous at allowing people not in their Empower team to join in as long as they are EZMM. It is good as it gives people a place to start.
Thanks Adrienne I would not have joined it if you had not blogged about it 🙂

Hi Sue
There are many people that start out in this business and think they will make money from the start, we know that is not the case, like you say we need to learn, grow our business and relationships first. I like the way you were told to look upon your blog as your home, I can relate to that 🙂
I will take a look at EZ Money Method and see if it for me, thanks for sharing.
Have a great day
Pauline
Sue Price says
Hi Pauline
I knew I had a lot to learn when I came online I just did not know it would take so long! I resonated with the idea of my blog being a home but honestly after a while I was not sure what it was a home for 🙂
I hope you are feeling better now.
You have a successful week.

Hi Sue
I have never given a thought to how to earn online. I really don’t know whether there any way we can make money online.
If EZ Money is working for you the obviously I can think of how to earn online.
Thanks for sharing this info.
Best of luck in your endeavor.

Hi Sapna
Wow I do not think I have met anyone else who came online without thinking of earning. I guess people blog for the enjoyment of it. May I ask you why you came online? Just curious now.
Thanks for sharing here and have a great day.

HI Sue
I am here online to earn money.I am not too sure whether it is possible to earn money online.I am not aware of the ways to earn the money, which I have to learn from you and from everyone around who is successful.
I hope, I have been able to put across my point now.
Thanks
Sapna
Sue Price says
Thanks Sapna for the clarification.
I do not think there are very many people who come online and make money right away. It is a learning curve. I sure have been through it and still growing my income.
Let’s make 2013 the year we all have great success.

Sylviane Nuccio says
Hi Sue,
I so love your honesty because you are saying “out loud” what I’m sure lots of people have thought in their head without daring to admit it.
I have to say that even though I came online a while back now and went through different avenues of making money online, even made money, and still in my bad days I used to ask myself “what am I doing online”? 🙂
I am passed that now, though, I have a firm belief and purpose.
It’s interesting, as you point out, we don’t expect to succeed that fast when it comes to the more “regular” occupations, yet we do when it comes to online marketing, and I think that’s due to the fact that so many people think that it’s some kind of game, that it is not serious. Thanks for the reminder for all those who think that way.
Sue Price says
Hi Sylviane
I agree with you that so many people are not brave enough to admit they are not doing well or taking more time than they thought to make money. It is only when we are in our sharing groups we hear others say how lost they were in the beginning.
I think the negative in that is we start to think we are the only ones who have not got it all figured out. I know I did and was sure everyone else was raking in the money 🙂
I am glad you have built a solid business for yourself Sylviane. I also think you are spot on with many people thinking online marketing is some sort of game. Far from it really.
Thanks for your comment Sylviane

Donna Merrill says
Hi Sue!
I think we all come on line at first and have no clue how to monetize our blog. But there is a lot to learn in marketing. We do have to give ourselves time to find our niche, and our target market.
I like the way you explained how it took years of school to get a CPA. One must have that in their mindset when coming into the market. There is a learning curve!
Meanwhile, our blog is our “home” where people will check us out to see that we are real people giving real value. That’s how I get most of my opt-ins. Or someone may call me up and say “I’ve seen you on line and I like what you are doing.” It is that attraction marketing! I just love when that happens.
As for EZ Money System, I did hear about it, but am bogged down with my merge with David and swamped with marketing analysis. Who knew I would love statistics?
But I heard this is a great program and lots of my friends are having success with it.
Donna
Sue Price says
Hi Donna
I agree I do not think many people know how to monetize their blog at first or for sometime. It does take time as you say for us to find our way and niche. I have been around in circles a few times.
My first intention was to blog so people would know me and join my then MLM. I think there was a lot of us like that. As time went on I shifted my thinking.
I am very excited to see the products you and David come up with. I was sad to have to leave the conversation today as what you do is going to be exciting. Ivan and I keep talking about creating our own. We have so much business experience mainly offline.
Yes the guys at EZMM have done a great job and it is working for many people.
Thanks for your comment Donna and great to see you today.

Sue, I think you could have stopped writing after that first paragraph and called it a day and had half the internet world scratching their heads wondering why they never thought of it like that! You’re so right. Any profession requires school, training, study, practice, effort, sometimes years. So what is it about internet business that makes people think suddenly that it’s free and easy? Why would that even make sense? It’s great that there are “real” people like you who are spreading a message of common sense and practical ideas. And if you suggest a program then it’s got to be worth checking out!
Sue Price says
Hi Carol
Maybe I should have done as you say and just written the first paragraph 🙂 – It is so obvious really and not sure how we ever got into this idea that there is no or very little learning curve on the internet. I am guessing that all the “get rich quick” type hype has contributed.
When I started blogging there was a woman in the course I was on that thought she would replace her full time income in 3 months. Not sure where she got that from but consequently she quit the internet.
Thanks for your comment Carol.

So its not to worry if your blog is taking time to make a good result and reputation in blogging world.
I think every blogger should see what is latest and should be upto date on the current scenerio of blogging this will help them to go in the right direction.
Be aware whats in whats in demand thats the thing.
I have heard about EZ money program but never considered it but your article forced me check it out.

Hi Shorya
Thanks for finding my blog and for commenting. It is always exciting to get new visitors.
I agree most high powered bloggers have had the learning curve and struggle at the beginning. I personally have learned a lot from being in a couple of tribe syndication groups. I think just talking to others and sharing ideas and what is working really helps.
EZ Money Method is a great program. I saw it around and ignored until one of the bloggers I respect recommended it.
Thanks again for your comment Shorya.

Sue, I can attest to the truth of your post; it is very rare to get online and quickly make a success and/or large sum of money online. I find it interesting that someone would think that the internet would be any different that getting into a 9 to 5 career. One needs training, needs to learn the “ropes” and have hands on experience before they can truly take off!
There is much to learn about the internet and the ever increasing ways to best use this awesome tool. I have learned from you, Adrienne Smith, Sylviane Nuccio, Raena Lynn, Barbara Charles, and Donna Merrill; the “Awesome Ladies” from our Mastermind group that the Worpress Blog should be my “home”. There definitely is a learning curve.
More people need to read this post before they begin there journey into money on the internet and they would probably last longer than a few months with the truth before hand.
Sue Price says
Hi Michael
I think those of us that have been online for a while all understand there is a learning curve. You know I think with other professions or jobs sometimes the training is clearer but online we often do not know where to start.
I am glad you have learned so much from the ladies in your tribe. I learn from you all too. I think it is great how we can bounce ideas off each other. I feel blessed to be part of it.
Have a wonderful Christmas Michael and I wish you a wildly successful 2013.

Hi Sue,
I am coming up on working online for two years now and I still have much to learn. I basically see what other successful people are doing online and mimic them. Then I make tweaks and adjustments as I go along.
There is definitely a big learning curve but I am committed to sticking with it for the long run.
Sue Price says
Hi Justin
I think it is a never ending learning here online to some extent as we need to keep up with the changes. I love your approach of identifying successful people and copying them. Great recipe for success I would say.
Thanks for your comment Justin and have a very happy holiday break.

Michael A. Buccilli says
I find that most legitimate business courses teach that the best way to find success in either online or brick and mortar businesses is to learn what the successful business men and women before us have done. Read and study them and as you have stated Justin; tweak it to fit your business and you.
Sue Price says
Hi Michael
Learning from successful people is a great way to learn for sure and yes we need to tweak it to fit us.
I just get annoyed when I see get rich quick schemes being promoted online. As we both know there is a learning curve.
Thanks for your comment Michael. Here is to a wonderfully successful 2013 for us both.
Sue
Michael A. Buccilli says
I agree Sue, though I do look at things a tad different – yes, it is annoying when people make an opportunity look too good to be true; or too easy, I have found many of these businesses and opportunities actually are very good but get a bad rap because of how a particular person had promoted them. It can be misleading when they use phrases like “make $5,000 in a week” and such, when I know that those numbers are not the norm.
Sue Price says
I agree with you Michael and I am not sure I do see it differently than you. I should have said I get annoyed at the people who mislead. I see it all the time with some good businesses.
I like hearing what top earners are making as I then think to myself “well if they can I can”. I just need to know there is a learning curve to get there.
See you on your new blog soon 🙂

Hi Sue,
I started blogging online 2years ago and It took 9months before I earned my first $100 and after 5 months, my 1st blog was acquired from me and I went and launched my 1st starter-Up which is JustRetweet.com early last year Nov and It took more just 3days to start making money online.
So making online is not easy because you must be hard working person before you could achieve that and also work smart but have patience.
Thanks for sharing 🙂
Sue Price says
Hi Valentine
Thanks for finding me here and for your comment.
I love your story and it is great that you found success. Yes I agree you have to work hard – but yes smart is important. We need to know where to spend our time. I also agree that patience is very important as it will not happen over night.
All the very best for 2013.

Good Morning Sue, Great Post, and for sure I will check out the training link. I am a 20 year networker and 17 of those years were done offline. So I know exactly what your talking about when it comes to struggles. Entering the online world was a very different type of experience for me. I think MLSP was a great eye opener and did create allot of the success I have had over the past 9 months. I think there are many ways to create success you just have to find what works for you. There are 100 different ways to do any task, but there are only a few that will work for one type of person. I always crave learning, I feel that no one can ever stop learning. Increasing knowledge about your business and striving to do better everyday is a must to have success. I have enjoyed my online experiences and have NO regrets when it comes to networking. Thanks for your post I gained value.
Sue Price says
Hi Carol
Thanks for your comment. Wow 17 years in Network Marketing before you came online is a long time. Do you still do offline marketing as well as online?
I agree there are many ways we can create success online and we do need to find what works for each of us. I know I sure went around in circles for a time. Even in blogging there are very different approaches.
I hope you are having a nice holiday season and all the very best for 2013.

Hi Sue. It is extremely frustrating to me that so many people claim it’s so easy to make money online. It is not. There is a learning curve that to me just blows my mind. My problem is that I’ve come across so many ‘programs’ that I’m a bit ‘shy’ of dealing with the latest and greatest ‘next money maker’ online. I’m glad you found something that works for you and wish you much success. Hope your holiday was great and that you have a prosperous New Year.

Hi Sue,
You have written another awesome post! Your journey is definitely one that is not uncommon. Like you, I WAS techno-phobia too! I hated so much to sit in front of the computer! My preferred way of doing Network Marketing is face-to-face meeting.
Looking back at those early struggles, it is worth it! I have now got a decent blog for me to refine and continue to do the job (lead generation). Network marketing is what I do. However, I would take some time to check out EZ Money System.
I appreciate your sharing this educational blog!
Have a Great Year in 2013, Sue!

I am glad to hear I am not the only one that was a technophobe! I actually have lot of friends my age who are the same and now they think I am a tech wizz 🙂
I too am glad I persevered as we are not going to go back to the way things were that is for sure. I still like face to face old fashioned meetings too but the internet does let us have a much greater reach.
You have done so well with your blog and to be voted in the top MLM blogs is awesome.
Viola thanks for your comment and I also wish you a great 2013.

Hi Sue,
I’ve just been called over from Pauline’s blog and I’m very pleased to have found your site. This post inspired me as I just started online recently and my own blog mid-November this year.
You’re so right in saying that making money online is not an easy venture and it takes time until one sees a breakthrough. There is a huge and steep learning curve to it and lots of hard work, dedication and determination are needed.
Thanks for being open and sharing your story. It sure inspired me as new to the whole online world. I have to check the EZMM and find if it is for me or not. Thanks for sharing the link.
Thanks for the inspiration now, I want to wish you a Happy, Successful and Prosperous New Year.

Oh yes there is all those ingredients you name needed to get some success online. I think for me the most difficult thing has been staying focused. It is just too easy to get distracted by all the new offers, launches etc.
I wish you the very best in your new adventure online. Also may 2013 bring you success, good health and prosperity.

Sue,
I actually had to quit my job a few months back due to no transportation issues. However, I started web and graphic designing online in November and within the month of December I made $945 within 30 days. That’s enough to pay my bills and show me that it is very possible to have a successful job online. I have financial goals that I have to meet by a certain deadline. So, everything works out great! =)
I believe it does take time for success but it also depends on how hard you work. I just opened my website on December 5th and I already have 4,000 page views and it hasn’t even been a full 30 days yet!
I hope you have a wonderful New Year and many more to come!
Sue Price says
Hi Carrie
Thank you for finding my blog and for your comment.
Wow congratulations that is an awesome result so quickly. The fact you do web and graphic design puts you way ahead of people like me who had no clue about anything when they started. I was such a technophobic person and really knew nothing.
I wish you every success and may 2013 be even better than you hope.

Hi Sue,
Great blog post and advice.
Been there doing that and ordering the T-Shirt as we speak!
There is a mighty learning curve. The younger folk have the advantage. They grew up with computers. ha!
It is tough but I’m seeing great progress…luckily I can do this every day as much as I like.
It’s nice to know others are out there with the same story!
Happy New Year,

Sue Price says
Hi Tonya
Thanks for finding my blog and for your comment.
I agree with you it is easier for the younger people when it comes to the technical side of things. I sure did not grow up on a computer. I think age has some other advantages though as we still have our offline experiences and wisdom we have acquired over the years.
I know many successful people young and old who struggled online at first until they figures out their game.
I wish for you much success in 2013 Tony. Happy New Year.

Sue Neal says
Hi Sue,
Thanks so much for sharing your experience in this post – I think you’ve hit the nail on the head when you say it takes time and training to succeed.
One of the biggest challenges newcomers face, in my experience, is knowing which path to take – there are so many different options, it certainly can be overwhelming. The trouble is a lot of people want to make money quickly, with minumum effort, and aren’t prepared to put the time in building some solid foundations – and sadly there are plenty of unscrupulous marketers willing to take advantage of that, making all sorts of false promises about get rich quick schemes. No wonder the web’s littered with so many abandoned blogs.
As with any business, you have to invest before you start drawing profits, and that includes investing your time and energy in learning the ropes – and figuring out which of those myriad of paths you’re going to take (then sticking to it!)
Thanks for your inspiring story, which proves it can be done!
Sue
Sue Price says
Hi Sue
Thanks for coming over here and for your comment.
I agree with you that one of the main challenges is the number of options. I know for me that has been a real challenge. I jumped around too much and tried to do way to many things. I was warned about “bright shiny objects” but they still got in my way. I think to so me extent it is just part of the learning curve.
It is interesting you comment on the number of abandon blogs. I started online doing a blogging course. We had weekly webinars where we came together as a group. It was a nice community but one by one most left their blogging. I think there only a handful of us left here.
All the very best for 2013 Sue.

Hi Sue,
I had no idea about your blog, but glad I met Adrienne and coming from her place 🙂
Well, actually I’m not a Network Marketer 🙂 I’ve started blogging as the enthusiasm of having online place to share my findings and help out folks here as I was used to do that via email and forums dear.
However while completing my degree last year, I thought of offering my own services via blog and make it as a living instead of go for a day job after the degree. I know it’s not about overnight success, but I’m happy with current progress dear. I believe if we hangout with right people, success is never far away. Well, let’s see I can live the life I love 😉
Wishing you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year and more success on your way this year Sue 🙂
