I do not often make such bold statements as I have in the title of this blog post. What Is The Law Of Attraction? – You Need To Know. I am referring to the “you need to know”. Most times I do not force my opinion on others however having just battled a major health issue I feel like I need to speak up more.
I believe everyone, including you and me, needs to understand what the law of attraction is and how it is affecting our lives every day.
Many people believe that Rhonda Byrne’s book and movie The Secret started the idea of the law of attraction. That simply is not true. The Secret brought the idea of the law of attraction into popular thinking and showed people they are not victims of life.
Life does not happen “to you” you are the creator of what happens.
If you go to Wikipedia to read the history you will find…..
“Ralph Trine wrote in In Tune With The Infinite (1897):
The law of attraction works universally on every plane of action, and we attract whatever we desire or expect.
If we desire one thing and expect another, we become like houses divided against themselves, which are quickly brought to desolation.
Determine resolutely to expect only what you desire, then you will attract only what you wish for.”
“The 20th century saw a surge in interest in the subject with many books being written about it, amongst which are two of the best-selling books of all time; Think and Grow Rich (1937) by Napoleon Hill and You Can Heal Your Life (1984) by Louise Hay.
Even if the New Age movement adopted many New Thought ideas, including that of the law of attraction, the law of attraction remains a new thought philosophical concept.
In 2006, the concept of the law of attraction gained a lot of renewed exposure with the release of the film The Secret which was then developed into a book of the same title in 2007. The movie and book gained widespread attention in the media.” You can read the full definition and history of the law of attraction [HERE]
What is the Law of Attraction?
You can see the concept and understanding of the law of attraction is far from new. The words by Ralph Trine really resonate with me and I believe explain how it works.
….”If we desire one thing and expect another, we become like houses divided against themselves, which are quickly brought to desolation. Determine resolutely to expect only what you desire, then you will attract only what you wish for.”
I believe this conflict of what we desire and what we expect is why affirmations do not work for many people. We can affirm whatever we like however if we do not expect to attain our goal it will always allude us.
Law of attraction does not only work on our thoughts, it is our vibration that really is important. If we expect something we lift our vibration. If we want something but expect we will not achieve it our vibration is not aligned to what we really desire.
The law of attraction works both positively and negatively.
For a long time I misunderstood the Law of attraction and used to say it did not work for me. I thought it only worked if I was attracting what I really wanted. I did not understand I was too often undermining myself with my thoughts.
I wrote a blog post some time back on this subject. This one illustrates that the law does not know if we are joking or really want something.

I have many examples of the law of attraction at work in my own life I will share with you over subsequent posts. Some of my experiences are where I achieved what I had set my heart on and others are the opposite.
Can you see how the law of attraction affects every area of our lives?
It affects our businesses, careers, family life, health and our happiness.
This is why I strongly believe we all need to understand it.
It is really about understanding how life works.
Here are some quotes on the subject. You will see they are not all new and certainly not “new age”.
“All that we are is a result of what we have thought.”
“What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
– Mark 11:24
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”
– Albert Einstein
“That which is like unto itself is drawn.”
– Jerry and Esther Hicks
“I attract to my life whatever I give my attention, energy and focus to, whether positive or negative.”
– Michael Losier
“Every single second is an opportunity to change your life, because in any moment you can change the way you feel”
– Rhonda Byrne
Have I convinced you on the importance of the law of attraction?
Have an amazing day!
