My last post was letting you know that Tony Robbins had a give away book.Β If you missed that post I suggest your read that one first.
Here is the link How to Get What You Want
In that post I said the book was only available until the 30th November but it is still there. Here it is again, just click here.
10 Day Mental Challenge
In my last post I mentioned he suggests a 10 day mental challenge. I have shot a video here to explain how it works.
What do you think? Are you up for doing this 10 day mental challenge ?
I tell you what it is not easy. I had a day yesterday when it seemed like everything I did went wrong. Just little things but I could feel myself reacting.
Example –Β my internet has been cutting in and out this week. I think it is weather related as we have had storms hanging around and strong winds. But when you are uploading videos or in the middle of editing them and you lose everything do you stay calm?Β Hmm I was getting stressed. And then got more stressed at myself being stressed π
I am back on track today with my 10 day mental challenge.Β It might be I start over a few times!
Values
Tony Robbins book which is called Re-awakening the Giant Within and is a condensed version of his original book.
Tony says
Values guide our every decision and, therefore, our destiny.
Those who know their values and live by them become the leaders of our society.
They are exemplified by outstanding individuals throughout our nation, from the boardroom to the classroom
– Tony Robbins.
He talks about values in terms of values we move towards to gain pleasure and those we move away from to avoid pain.
I have another video with my take on his message and some examples from my life.
I find it really interesting that he has found that people will do more to avoid pain than to gain pleasure.
How do you motivate yourself to do something like in my gym example?
Do you know what your values are? Do you know how your prioritize them?
Conflicting Values
Another thing to think about is do you have conflicting values?
I have a good friend who is a life/business coach. She was staying with us and we were discussing values. It is part of the work she does with her clients.
She picked up from listening to me that I may have had some conflicts running in my values. I had said to her several times that I valued Freedom above all else.
I elaborated that meant doing what I liked when I liked. She kindly pointed out that was a contradiction to my major goal of building a business and having a team. Clearly I cannot do what I want whenever I want if I am leading a team.Β That was a Aha moment for me.
The funny thing is that I have not always been that strong on having freedom above all else. I realized I made it a value when I was burnt out in a previous business where I had a large team and people calling me night and day.
It is well worth looking at your own values and making sure you do not have conflicts like I did.
You can probably tell I am enjoying revisiting Tony Robbins work. π
Please leave me your comments below. Did you get the book? Do you know what your values are? And are you up for the challenge?
Make it a great day.

Hi Sue,
This looks just WONDERFUL! You just cannot go wrong with anything from Tony Robbins. Thanks for passing this along and keep up those videos!
Sue Price says
Hi Donna
I agree you cannot go wrong with Tony Robbins. After all of these years he is a true master.
I got almost through the 30 day challenge for the videos and sort of hit the wall. You know when you just think I cannot do one more. So I decided to take a break. It will not be for long but I figure it is crazy making videos when you are not inspired. I am sure you know what I mean.
Hope you are feeling better.

Hi Sue,
I’ve downloaded the book this past week and will definitely read it very soon. I know that some great things are starting to happen for me, and I really have the feeling that this new coming year will key for me.
That’s really nice of you for sharing this Tony Robbins book, as I’m sure many people can take advantage from.
Have a great day!

Hi Sylviane
I am sure you will love the book. It is not new information but I still got a few distinctions on things. I think sometimes we only need a bit of tweaking.
I have heard you say a few times now that things are going great for you. That is awesome and it will be exciting to see what 2014 brings to you.
Have a wonderful week.

Hey Sue,
As you know I did download Tony’s book as well so thank you very much. Now I need to find the time to read it myself. With Christmas coming up I’m getting ready for that in whatever spare time I have so my reading material will be put on the back burner at the moment.
It really sounds like I need to read that though because I’ve been kind of in a funk myself this month. I haven’t been thinking negatively for the most part but I would be lying if I told you I hadn’t at all. I think I just have some reevaluating to do.
Thanks again and for your messages in the videos as well. You’re becoming quite the pro young lady.
Have a great week.

Hi Adrienne
I think the book will be perfect for you to read over the break. It is an easy read and it might be just what you need. We all get into funks from time to time. I think sometimes what we most need is a break and as you to rejuvenate.
Thanks for your kind words on the videos. I just said in my comment to Donna I hit the wall with them just short of my 30 days. I just could not do one more. So I didn’t. I will get back there though but needed a few days off. I too have been very busy trying to get Christmas stuff done as well as work. I do so me work with Ivan and that has been full on.
You too have a good week. Thanks for your comment here.

Hi Sue,
I haven’t been able to watch the videos because of being on a slow internet connection due to being on road. But I will watch it soon when I get home. But looking at the comments, I can see many people have loved it.
Speaking of contradicting values, I agree with what your associate said. Well, you can definitely do what you want (although it must be right thing to do consciously). But can you do it (and should you do it) when you want? Probably not. Because you may have to do it when you don’t want because someone else who is counting on you for that, may be dependent on you to act. So, I would say that it is a conflict between freedom of choice and accountability and in every case, I would prefer accountability over freedom. What do you say?
Thank you for this very thoughtful post with a very interesting revelation! Have a great week!
Regards,
Kumar

Hi Kumar
Ah slow internet makes watching videos difficult.
The conflicting values is a very interesting one and I see you totally understand what I meant. I would probably still go with freedom above all else but I get accountability is very important. My total need for freedom was a result of too many years on the road and having no time to myself. I got very burnt out and I think then we tend to go to the opposite sometimes.
You too have a good week and safe travels.
Thanks for your comment Kumar.

Hi Sue,
That’s really nice to hear that the eBook is yet available for anyone. I grabbed it on 30th, assuming I was right on time not to miss it π Thanks again for sharing it with us.
Now, the topic has extended and you are on to action, eh? π Awesome! Yet I have to read it once I’m done with posts and ebooks I’ve listed to read in this year.
I really loved what you discussed about values, Sue. Including your experiences and thoughts in that fabulous video. Avoiding pain vs gaining pleasure π
Mostly, I see around people running tirelessly to avoid their pain, which I find it makes our lives more complex dear. The answer they like to mutter is “I have to do, else no survival”. But they have more than enough for survival, but too much expenses. Following the majority, I feel. The feeling of survival is indeed a strong motivator, isn’t it? Too many examples out there.
Yet I believe I’m identifying my values one by one dear. I know, there’s more to reveal. The pitfalls made me realize hidden values and conflicts I had. It’s really wonderful how changing our perspectives can bring wonders into our lives.
I love the example of gym, Sue π You saw yourself in future and anticipated how you wanna be. In this year, I’ve been transforming my life by adding up more healthy habits and slowing down myself a bit, be my own boss and work at home while enjoying my mom’s delicious meals, helping others online + offline and etc. Plus, residual income to come too.
Kinda missing fun as my friends say, but I observed how many people missing their parents and wish they were there, grow old and spend most of money on health matters and so on. All the examples are there and we just need to observe and apply, nah? π
I don’t wanna grow old or die too young and tell myself I should have done it before π lol… You know what I mean, right?
Ugh… Too talkative I am. Ain’t I? π lol…
I guess, probably the next post will be about how this challenge worked for you. Isn’t it? π Looking forward to it and love to know the result too Sue.
Wish you all the best for your challenge!
You have a wonderful week there π
Cheers…

Hi Mayura
I am sure you will love the book when you get to it. I have not read and more since I wrote this post as I have been so busy. My plan is to get back to it tonight.
Values is a fascinating topic for sure. They run our lives and most people could not tell you what their values are. I know this because I have been part of many workshops where people were asked to write down their values and not many people could.
I agree far too many people are caught up in survival. I think as the world has become more materialistic often the people lose their ability to be grateful for the simple things in life. For many years my husband and I with our family would holiday in Bali. I always noticed how the Balinese people who had very little compared to Australians were so much happier. Interesting isn’t it?
I am glad you liked my gym example. We can see the same in many things we do. Great you are into healthy habits. I saw on Facebook the other day that you said you love your Mum’s cooking. I think she looks after you very well π
I am sure you will reap the rewards for the work you are putting in now. Maybe you are missing out on some fun but it will pay off for you.
It sounds like your life is pretty nice now though.
Now my next post. Maybe I will talk about the challenge. I had not planned it because I have just had a whole lot of picking my self up when I get cross. π
Thanks for your comment and no you never talk to much. I love what you have to say.
Have a great rest of your week Mayura.

Hello Sue,
Thank you for that link…the book was downloaded but I keep procrastinating instead of reading it (or maybe I’m taking my blogging commitments too serious!).
Now that you’ve reminded me, I’m going back to the book, will read every page I can find and come back here to offer you my honest opinion about the content thereof.
Do have a great day…and thanks for sharing!
