Is it really possible to live the life you want to live?
When my husband and I first were married some 30+ years ago we were listening to a Jim Rohn goal setting workshop. In fact we were listening to a “tape”. If you are too young to know what I am referring to tapes were how we listened to recordings before CDs.
Ivan, my husband, had just attended a weekend workshop with the late Jim Rohn and had purchased his tape set. We were listening to the workshop and setting our annual goals.
Jim was giving ideas of things we might want to have in our life. One of them was to live in summers all year round. This really appealed to me as I hate being cold. It became one of those little “someday goals” I tucked away and have never forgotten.
Even though living in summer really appealed to me I did not see it was possible. 30+ years ago we did not have the internet and living in summer would mean living in different hemispheres at different times of the year. I am in Australia and right now in June it is winter. I could not get my head around building a business and moving around.
The Internet Changed it All
Fast forward all these years on and we now have the internet. I share where I live here in this video.
Live the Life You Want To Live
Now living by the beach may not be what you want to do in your life. That is okay. My point here is not to convince you to live by the beach or in continual summers. My point is to say you can have the life you want to live. It may take time and commitment but you can work towards it – whatever it is you want in your life.
When I first thought about living in summers we had a brick and mortar business and staff. In my head at the time I felt I was tied to that business. Over the years and with the internet we have moved several times.
I now live in the sub-tropics so still not summer all the time but hey it is pretty good. I am now building my internet business with one of my goals being to live in the northern hemisphere when it is our winter in Australia.
To Live the Life You Want To Live should not take you 30 years! I know it has taken me a very long time but there was no internet when I started.
For some of you who are still very young you can work towards living life on your terms at a much younger age.
A quote from the man himself
“If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.” Jim Rohn
And one more
“Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.” Jim Rohn
So what do you think is it possible to Live the Life You Want To Live? I seem many young internet marketers living the most awesome lifestyles. I would love to hear what you think. Are you living the life you dream of or are you working towards it? Please leave me your comments below.
Make it a great day!

Hi Sue,
Thank you so much for showing us how beautiful it is where you live. I know we have spoken about it often, but now I can see it and enjoy it for myself.
I know the feeling of living where you want. My husband and I are doing it too. 10 years ago, we moved out of the metro area of New York up to the beautiful finger lake region by a waterfall in NY. But the little gypsy in me got bored. Our house was getting too big to manage and we wanted to downsize a bit.
We are in the middle of selling and moving more North to Maine and it’s lovely beaches and pine trees. Whenever I tell folks where I’m going, they are puzzled. “Why don’t you move south like everyone else does?” Well, I don’t like the heat because it slows me down.
We had to make the decision to live in the air condition or live in a heated home. We chose the later. Plus, I love the northern beach even when it is cold. So for now, we are purchasing a new home just a mile from the beach. It is a quiet village life and I’m ready for that experience.
But that’s for now. Who knows where I’ll go next lol.
This is the beauty of having an internet business. You can live wherever you want whenever you want!

Hi Donna
It is beautiful where I live. I think I have told you before that Richard Branson has a home here. Well he also has his own island! and a boat called “the Boss”. I have never ran into him but several of our friends have and he walks around without security just like one of the locals.
I am really excited for you and David. I too wondered why the heck you would not be going south but then I remembered you do not like the heat. It is great we are all different at least that way we are spread around.
A mile from the beach is great. We have had a couple of houses right on the beach and we would not do that again. As much as I love it seeing and hearing the ocean I hate everything rusting. Friend of ours here who live virtually on the beach have to replace their computers every year or less as they just rust inside!
Ah a village life will be nice I am sure after New York. Well maybe you will miss some of the things that go with a city but you can visit. I really missed Sydney when we left. Ivan did not at all as he is a country boy at heart. Now when I go back there or to one of the other larger cities in Australia I cannot wait to get back here. We only have a population of 60,000 but in tourist season there is many more. Still small though.
Oh yes an internet business has opened up new worlds for us all.
Thanks for your feedback here Donna.

Hi Sue,
You are so fortunate to be living the life you designed. You worked hard and both of you deserve it! The beach is beautiful! You asked the question, “Are you living the life you dream of or are you working towards it? I’m working towards it and the journey is exciting.
The fact that my business is online gives me the mobility to pursue that dream and I know it is possible if I do what I need to do to make it happen. I do not like the cold either, especially snow, and ideally my plan is to stay at my present place during the summer because it is beautiful here, and leave for during the winter to a warmer state and I can live closer to my daughters.
I am a big fan of Jim Rohn and he is so wise. I spent most of my life allowing other people to plan my life but I now know that it is up to me to design my life and reach my dreams. The internet has opened the door for so many people to
live where they want when they want. It is a true gift. Thanks for sharing your video :).

Hi Raena
It was not until the last ten years that I really understood I could design my life. We had moved around and lived in different places but that was more in reaction than by design. You have probably heard me say Ivan and I did a year long mentoring course where we really got to plan what we wanted. We need to increase our income to a level it used to be in previous businesses and then we will travel much more as well.
Raena it is great you are on the path you are now on. We did not have the internet or the choices we now have when we were 20. I am in awe when I see the likes of Jonathan Budd and the younger people knowing they can create an awesome life at such young ages.
It is funny I have never lived in snow and the few times I have seen it I think it is so beautiful. But the truth is I just cannot stand being cold.
Thanks for your comment here Raena. See you later in the week.

Thank you so much for the video. I love Australia and the beach even more. It’s so important to have a vision but also act on that vision so thanks for sharing the inspiration .
Sue Price says
Hi Lisa
Nice to hear you love Australia. Have you spent much time here?
Yes a vision in important and as you say to act on it – for many years I left out the “acting on” part thinking it would be sometime in the future. Of course then it always remains just a dream.
Thanks for visiting my blog and for your comment Lisa.

So that’s your winter? Those people are in bathing suits in the water, how cold is it there Sue?
I love that you gave us a tour of where you love to go and hang out. It’s so beautiful and I would love to live by the water but I wouldn’t pick the ocean for me. Not with all the hurricanes we have here, I would go more for a lake or even a homemade pond for that matter.
I know that we can have what we want in life if we believe enough in it. Nothing will happen overnight, that I do know. But we can work toward it and with time we can be living by the beach if we chose.
I can’t even wrap my head around where I’d love to live out my golden years. As you know I’m here for my Mom mostly and I pray she still lives a good number of years very healthy. Maybe once she has departed this earth I can think more about where I would go since I would have nothing tying me to this place for once in my life.
I love your message Sue and am thrilled that you are living out your dream as well. Thanks again for that fabulous tour.
See you soon.

Sue Price says
Hi Adrienne
Yes that is winter where I live. We do get some cooler days but the winters here are very mild. That day it was about 75 (in your language) and the water is about 68.
I hear what you say about the hurricanes and I do not blame you for not wanting to be there. A lot of the coastal parts of Australia have cyclones. Where were are is pretty good usually. Do you have lakes in Austin? I have some friends through the Kiyosaki network that live there and i know they have a boat.
Yes we can have what we want and we just need to know what it is and work towards it. I think it is wise for you to not make any plans while you Mom is still alive and going well. There will come a time when you will get to choose. Hey by then you may have several successful products and choose whatever you like. A visit to Australia would be a good thing 🙂
I am glad Ivan and I chose to live where we live but the downside is being away from my Mom right now.
Thanks for your comment Adrienne and see you tomorrow.

That’s not winter Sue, that’s heaven. I knew I always wanted to visit and that’s the kind of weather I love. Wish it was like that all the time.
We definitely have lakes everywhere even here in Houston. There are also lakes in Austin too but Austin is very expensive to live, especially on the water. It’s a beautiful little town but everyone wants to live there which is why it’s so over populated now.
I use to be on the water a lot even where I use to live but we were closer to the river. I use to go skiing and lay out at what we called the beach. The guy I married races boats. I’ve always been an outdoor person until I got much older. It’s too darn hot now and not as enjoyable but I do love the view.
Being close to Mom is my main #1 thing right now so I don’t mind it at all. One of these days I’ll be able to go wherever I want so until then I’ll just visit!
~Adrienne
Sue Price says
Yes it is a lovely climate for sure Adrienne. Where I grew up is much colder in winter! Ah I keep thinking you are in Austin and of course it is Houston. I had heard that about the cost of living in Austin.
Ah so you skied too. So did I when I was a teenager and with my first husband. Then when I married Ivan we had a ski boat and skied on a lake. I loved it.
Like you too I cannot do as much outdoors as I did earlier. When I was younger I would spend all day in the sun! Not very good really.
It will be interesting to see where you end up and you will have to come and visit me sometime.
Nice to see you even though it was brief today.

Hi Lisa
Yes it is pretty special where I live. It did not happen overnight as it was many years ago when we first thought we would like to live here but the timing was not right then.
You will get there. Just know what you want and take one step at a time. Follow your dreams.
Thanks for visiting me and for sharing here.

Hi Sue,
Nice video…
Your post on live the life you want is cool and how come you and your husband listen to tapes. Not only you but most of the people believe too much in workshops and tapes. Yes I do love to hear motivational speeches but never thought of attending workshops of sort.
I like the quote which says we should not fall into others plans. But sometimes it is hard to live it our way we need to care about people around, the society and all. Any way we should try to live for our sake but not for the sake of others…
I am still marching towards my kind of lifestyle and soon would be in it. My god is with me to fulfill my dreams.
Thanks for the post Sue…
Sue Price says
Hi Vijesh
Thanks for your comment on the video.
Ah I have listened to mindset type tapes for many years. I like to fill my mind with inspirational messages. For some years I was the CEO of a company that promoted workshops and seminars. That was my life and how I made my income, by promoting speakers and teachers. Also we sold CDs, Tapes, videos etc. I have seen many lives be transformed by workshops so I believe in them.
I understand that we cannot always live life totally on our terms as we have families and other people to consider. What I do believe is that there is a balance and we should make sure we are true to our heart and that we do not live on someone else’s agenda.
Great that you are moving towards the lifestyle you want to live Vijesh. I am sure you will get there.
Thanks for your comments. Have a great rest of your week.

Hi Sue,
I’ve watched your video before you had this post up because I’ve seen it on Facebook and jus the frozen image of the video made you want to watch it!
Man, I love your winters there.
As I was watching I couldn’t help thinking of my father’s sister, the one just above him, who moved to Australia just at about the same time my father moved to France from Italy 60 years ago when he was still a teenager. I could have been Australian instead of French!
Anyway, yes, I got your point in the video already. The point is to live where you want to, beach, mountain, summer or even cold, whatever floats your boat. This is life!
Me I want to live part in France and part in the US, and travel as well. I know I will get there.
Thanks for sharing this.
Sue Price says
Hi Sylviane
The winters where I live are awesome. The summers though are pretty hot and humid but I do not mind that. How funny to think your Dad could have come here and yes then you would be like many Australians who have Italian blood.
I know you want to liver between France and the USA and I know you want to buy the house you grew up in. I think that would be awesome. We have some German acquaintances we know here who live half the year in Germany and half here. Always following the sun. A great way to live I think.
Too many people feel like they cannot move. We have people say to us we are lucky we have moved around. As you know there is no luck just decision and action 🙂
I was sad we did not see each other for more than a few minutes today. We should catch up on Skype.
Have a good rest of your week Sylviane and thanks for commenting.

Thanks for your feedback on my video. My suggestion to you is to do what you want to do. You have to be true to yourself. Wow a doctor and artist are very different.

Hi Gladys
It is a little piece of paradise where I live. It is winter so not too many people on the beach. In summer it is very different and becomes a wall of people.
That is a great point you make Gladys – to be happy where ever we live. That is always our choice to do that.
Thanks for dropping by and for your comment. Have a great day.

Great post and thoughts! Thank you for this reminder. Living in the daily grind and trying to move toward my dreams can block the outcome results, which is to live life on my own terms. Keep inspiring us to move toward freedom.

Wow Sue. This is awesome. Yes I believe we can live the lifestyle we want. I never imagined that I would be doing the things I’m doing, owning the house I own, traveling where I have traveled. Now it may not be the life of a millionaire but I definitely believe it can be done.
So many people can not live the lifestyle they imagine and you’re right, it shouldn’t take 30 years nowadays. People don’t understand how blessed they are with the Internet and technology where they can reach across the world and interact with people, run businesses and work with people to make their dreams come true.
Absolutely awesome article and thoughts to make people think.
Thanks for sharing this part of your life.

Thanks for your comments and glad you like it. Now who would have thought you would be doing business in PNG – just on my doorstep – and because of the internet! When you get to PNG for that business just remember you have to couple it with a visit to see me. It is so close 🙂
In our life time we have seen so much change so we can really appreciate the magic of today. I love I have lived in an era where I have seen so much change. And I am sure there will be more.
Thanks for commenting here and have a great weekend.

Hi Sue,
You offer some great encouragement here.
Planning, designing and working towards a goal is so important. I love the internet and it has provided so much in the way of freedom for folks, but as with anything worthwhile it takes hard work, focus, dedication, and encouragement and you’ve given us that here 🙂

Hi Sue,
Thank you for sharing our lovely Aussie beach and relate to your readers about what is possible for the future. How I envy your husband’s having the privilege to have met Jim Rohn in person!
Jim is indeed a very wise man. I learn his philosophy through his books and tapes (yes, tapes!) as well. I picked up some gems from this teaching of his – “You don’t have to revolutionize all at once. Just start….Say to yourself, ‘I promise myself I’ll never be the same again.’ It doesn’t take a revolution. You don’t have to do spectacularly dramatic things… Just make a commitment to any easy discipline. Then another one and another one.”
Awesome sharing, Sue! Thank you 🙂

Hi Viola
Yes Ivan, my husband, was very fortunate to have spent the time with Jim Rohn. I also met him twice but only at smaller events and not the longer one like Ivan attended.
His teaching was awesome for sure.
Ah our beaches… I love to show them off. We are blessed to live in such a beautiful country.
Thanks for your comment Viola. I hope you have been having a lovely weekend.

I love seeing the are where you live, what a beautiful place! In some ways, ‘it is what it is’, and in others it is exactly what we imagine, what we’ve dreamed of and worked for! I couldn’t agree more with some of the commenters above (I didn’t read them all) that the internet is the new workplace where money abounds!
You know I live in Alaska and I am surrounded with loving family and friends and mountains equal in beauty to your beach yet completely different!

It is amazing that there is such beauty in diverse landscapes as you say. From the beaches to the mountains. I spent a bit of time in Arizona and really fell in love with the desert there. Australia also has a lot of desert.
I am glad your cup runneth over! That is an amazing quote and says so much.

I really think it is possible to live the life you want to live. It does take work and is not something that will just happen.
I think it is great that you live on or near the beach. I would love to live where you do. I have been to Queensland several times and the beaches are some of my favorite spots to go.
I do dream of the day I can live where I want to live all of the time. I am working really hard at it and plan on realizing my dream.
