Having an attitude of gratitude is not something new. We have been told to feel grateful throughout the ages. Of more recent times with more people adopting the law of attraction the idea has been reawakened.
Feeling grateful for what we have not only results in us attracting more blessing into our lives, it also makes us happier and more giving as a human being.
It is not possible to feel gratitude and anger, fear or any other negative thought at the same time.
“Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for. ” Zig Ziglar
How do we develop an attitude of gratitude?
Oprah talks about gratitude in this short video.
I love the way she said “Concentrate on what you have and you will have more and if you think about what you don’t have you will never have enough.”
Here are some other ideas to develop an attitude of gratitude
- When you wake up every morning before you get out of bed think of the things in your life you are grateful for
- Listen to meditations on gratitude. YouTube has many to choose from.
- Keep a gratitude diary as Oprah suggested. She said write down 5 things. I like to do that at the end of the day and I can assure you it is very easy to get to 5.
- Acknowledge yourself when you do something well, learn something new or achieve even the smallest of things.
- Never compare yourself to others.
- Take in the beauty of nature.
- Always acknowledge others and give praise.
“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” Robert Brault
Here are some simple things that you and I can be grateful for :
- Clean water
- The air we breathe
- A bed to sleep in
- The food we eat
- If we are reading this another day on the planet
- and the list goes on……….
Many of us have goals we wish to accomplish and want more abundance in our lives. We can start by having an attitude of gratitude.
“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.” Eckhart Tolle
I would love to hear how you practice gratitude. Do you keep a gratitude journal?
One final quote that wraps up why we should develop an attitude of gratitude nicely.
“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” Melody Beattie
I am sure by now you can see the power of an attitude of gratitude.
Have an amazing day!
Namaste

great blog Sue – one thing I have noticed is whatever we Appreciate – we notice more of… I did a 100+ days of gratitude and notice how much more I do notice, especially gratidude – so its very important to be specific about what you appreciate
Sue Price says
Very good point Helen – being specific that is. I remember you doing the 100+ days. I am doing it every day right now, although I must comfess I have not been writing them down and am going to start that again. Thanks for your comment.

Hi Sue,
As you know, I’m extremely grateful for everything I am and have in my life. I don’t write them down, I never have but I do say them every single morning with “feeling” and I go through my day feeling thankful for things. The most powerful thing I’ve learned in this last year is the feeling that comes with it. Just writing it down isn’t enough if you’re not feeling the gratitude.
I can appreciate what Oprah is saying since I’ve lived this way most of my life. I do have a vision board and I have written things down though.
Thanks for this wonderful reminder and hope you’re doing well today my dear. Thinking of you!

Hi Adrienne,
I must confess I do not write them down either -well not all the time. I agree with you the most important thing is feeling the gratitude.
With what I am going through I have learned to be grateful for many things I took for granted. Thanks for thinking of me and I will write an update in our group over the weekend.
Blessings
Sue

Loved this post Sue! Learning how to have an attitude of gratitude is one of the best, simplest ways to start attracting more great things into your life. I am practicing a few of the ways mentioned already, and will be implementing a few more immediately. Great share!
Sue Price says
Thanks Kristine. Once we get into the habit of expressing gratitude apart from attracting more it is amazing how we notice more to be grateful for. I think the feeling you have when you are grateful is wonderful and a good way to live our lives. Congratulations on doing what you are doing.

Hi Sue,
A truly powerful message you’ve shared today.
In this crazy world of ‘more’, it’s easy to take things for granted and instead, develop ingratitude or at worse, covet. However, like you brilliantly suggested, even the air we breathe in is a huge blessing – a blessing we should all be thankful for, as we draw each breath.
Unfortunately, I’ve got poor network here – the video by Oprah keeps buffering…however, I’m supremely thankful that at least, I can read your thoughts today 🙂 (I’ll tackle the video later).
Do make the day great!
Always,
Akaahan Terungwa

Hi Terungwa,
I agree with you that in this world of “more” many people have forgotten what they have and are never grateful. I know very wealthy people who are anything but happy and grateful.
I do hope you can get Oprah to play as her message is very powerful.
Thanks for your comment and you too have a great day.

Great Post, Sue, gratitude is a choice and at some points in our lives it must be a conscience effort! Sharing!

I agree Tim and yes gratitude is a choice and one we should make if we want to be truly happy. Thanks for your comment.

Great post Sue!
Having an attitude of gratitude is so very important to living
an abundant life. We need to be constantly reminded to
be thankful. Powerful video by Oprah. Love what she said
about writing 5 things down everyday for what you’re grateful
for. Thanks for sharing!
Sue Price says
Thanks Daphne. It is important and I am glad Oprah reminded me of the 5 things as I used to do that and stopped. I always say what I am grateful for when I wake up and before I go to sleep. Now I am going back to my 5 things written down.
Thanks for your comment Daphne.
