I have been hearing about the benefits of meditation for most of my life.
Sadly I ignored everything I heard for a long time.
Here is a little from a blog post I wrote last year…….
“What have the benefits of meditation got to do with business? The first time I was told I needed to take up meditation to be more successful in my business I laughed.
The person who suggested it to me, or to be more accurate – told me to start meditation , was a mentor I was paying to coach me. I thought he was crazy. That was many years ago when my ego was out of control.
Fast forward to today and I think very differently.”
You can read the rest of the post be clicking >> Can The Benefits of Meditation Help You Be Successful in Business?
It was ten months ago that I wrote that post and I have meditated almost every day since.
I have an over active mind and for me meditation is a way to quiet the chatter.
So how can the benefits of meditation help you?
Some of the Physical Benefits of Meditation include;
- Lowers blood pressure
- Decreases any tension related pain
- Helps with insomnia
- Improves the immune system
- Increases energy
Other benefits I have found include:
- Improves creativity
- Makes you feel happier
- More in touch with your intuition
- A sense of peace
- Clarity of mind
I still often use guided meditations and have a list I keep in Evernote for quick reference.
Here are my favorites.
Please leave me a comment below and let me know your thoughts on the benefits of mediation.
Have an amazing day!
Namaste

Good post Sue… never was into meditation but the older I get I’m thinking… what the heck! Why not give it a go! It just might help to quiet my mind a bit.
Sue Price says
It does just that John, quiet the mind. I am now a lover but I confess it took me a while to get into it. Thanks for your comment.

Boy was I on the same page as you Sue. I also thought, ‘what’s the big deal about meditation’. I never had time (or I thought I didn’t) when I was working my 9 to 5 corporate job. Raising our son and a husband working nights. I look back now and I could have helped myself in a big way by adding meditation to my day, to alleviate stress. Today I’m so glad to have surrounded myself with people that have given me a way to do daily meditation and how that has helped to ground me not only in business but in my life. Thanks for sharing this Sue!
Sue Price says
I know exactly how you felt about it Lynn. I also thought I was too busy and it was a waste of time. Like you in reflection now it would have helped me heaps in my crazy busy days. Thanks for your comment Lynn.

When I started to read this I started to chuckle. My coach was telling me to do the same thing. And I couldn’t understand what meditation has to do with me trying to make money. But like you, I had to learn the hard way. Had to let go of my ego and give it a try. Was very hard at first, but with practice it really does help you to relax and clear your mind. Thanks for sharing Sue…

I am glad I was not the only one who resisted meditating Irene. Maybe it is a baby boomer thing. 🙂 It was very hard for me in the beginning too just to turn off my very over active mind. Thanks for your comment Irene.
Kerrie Subritzky says
Sue what a clear description of the advantages of meditation. I, too, have been in disdain for most of my life. I have just recently started and I must admit it’s a rather lovely way to start my day. This morning it was just the cicadas and birds that accompanied me, but I also use some instrumental music in particular frequencies which I have found really beneficial.
Sue Price says
I am glad you found my advantages clear Kerrie. I am sure there are many more as well. It seems there was more than just me who resisted it. I am glad you are enjoying starting your day this way now. Thank you for your comment.

Great post Sue. I must admit that I’ve been lazy when it comes to meditation. Definitely will start scheduling it into my day again. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Sue Price says
Stephanie I do one first thing in the morning but then another through the day. I just feel so much better when I do it. Make sure you do schedule it back into your day. Thanks for your comment.
Ken Pickard says
Sue,
I remember Justin Verengia saying “praying is talking to God, meditation is listening.” Without meditation…it kind of reminds me a crowded room of people where everyone is talking and no one is listening.
I have tried to do some mediation in the past with some success. Like you I have an active mind. Funny….when I can quite the mind and hands…I usually fall asleep.
I’ll have to take you up on some of the videos you posted.

Ken I have also heard Justin say that and I believe it is so true. I know I have been guilty in the past of saying God does not listen to my prayers where in fact I never stilled my mind enough to hear a response or guidance.
I also have a tendency to fall asleep when I quiet my mind however I am not doing it as often as I used to in the past.
Thanks for your comment Ken.

What a great blog post. I used to meditate on a daily basis before and have started again a couple of months ago.Yes it does have quite a number of benefits but mostly it allows you to find your inner peace. Great content and good tips you share in your post. Thanks for sharing this.
Sue Price says
Awesome that you are meditating again Hammond. I have gone in and out of doing it for years now and I am not sure why I stop as I know how much better I feel when I do meditate. Thanks for your comment Hammond.
Sue Price says
Awesome post on meditation Sue! It definitely can be beneficial if you do it the right way! Thanks!
Sue Price says
Thanks Danny. I am puzzled for some reason here my name is showing as commenting not yours. I knew it was you by the email and it does have your picture. 🙂
Adrienne says
Hey Sue,
I’ve always heard the same things you have about meditation. So I dove into it in the sense that they suggested and I had a much different experience. If you can even imagine, I had spirits come into my meditations. Although it was SO cool to see my loved ones it also wasn’t allowing me to do what I wanted.
I backed away from that after a period of time and I just sit quietly now once to twice a day. Twice if I can but usually just once. I have better luck with that but during this time I go through more about how grateful I am for everything which just seems to really calm me like nothing else. It’s a great way to start your day too.
I hope you’ve found it more beneficial now…
~Adrienne
Sue Price says
Hi Adrienne,
Oh wow I am sure it would be cool to see them but I agree it is a very different thing to quietening your mind for you.
Sitting quietly is a good thing and I am sure has similar benefits to meditating. I also think being in nature and and taking in the beauty is meditative.
Gratitude is a great way to start your day. I do that as well.
Thanks for your comment Adrienne and you have a wonderful day.

Great post Sue. I love the reading link suggestions also. Meditation is so helpful physically & mentally, as you stated & if more folks would adhere to meditation, they would have less need for doctor visits! Well done.
Sue Price says
I agree Linda that many people would go to doctors less if they meditated. I used to have a GP who conducted mediation classes once a week in his practice. I thought that was very cool. It was a complimentary thing he did for his patents.
Thanks for you comment Linda.
Earl Hackett says
Sue, great post.
Sounds to me that medication is good for the body as well as the mind. If we can detox the body why not clear the mind? When we clear the mind from the negative forces it allows us to input the positive thoughts.
Sue Price says
I love that it has benefits for both our mind and body Earl. I am sure there are many more benefits I did not think of. Thank you for your comment.
Obodo Charles says
Hi Sue,
Meditation is a very powerful spiritual exercise, it brings peace to a troubled mind and it helps you think better. Definitely, there is a connection between being successful in business and meditation because you can only take good business decisions only when your mind is at peace and you can articulate your thoughts clearly.
Thanks for letting us have a better understanding of how to leverage on the power of meditation in order to be successful in business. You’re doing a great job.
Sue Price says
Hi Obodo,
I see you know a lot about meditation and I am sure practice it regularly. I am not sure how I got by without it in the past but like many people I knew no better.
Thank you for your great comment here, much appreciation.

Great post Sue!
Meditation is pretty powerful! That’s how I start
my day, everyday! It puts a bounce in my steps
and a song in my heart. My day goes so much better.
Thanks so…much for sharing!
Sue Price says
Thanks Daphne. It sure is a great way to start your day. If on the odd occasion I oversleep and have an early commitment and do not meditate first up I feel out of whack all day.
Thanks for your comment.

Good on you Helen for getting into meditating. I love it and it helps me heaps. Thank you for your comment.
