Debunking the Myths of Empower Network
In my last post on the elusive 4 hour work week I talked about the need to focus. I have decided to focus the majority of my time on building one solid source of income in 2013. My choice is Empower Network.
The purpose of this post is to explain my reasons and to debunk some of the myths that are out there around Empower Network. If you are not familiar with Empower Network I have details about it at Passive Income – Empower Network.
Why Empower? I am not ready to do my own products and decided I wanted to build my income up this year. I see many people in Empower Network earning very nice incomes while I have been sitting on the sidelines licking my wounds over my rocky beginning with them. Yes they had enormous teething problems when they started but one by one Dave and Dave over came them. I have learned to have so much respect for their leadership and vision.
Why Empower? I like many things about it but mostly they have awesome training. I feel it is a place where even if a person is new online they can follow the training and learn. I like their culture and the fact there are many top internet marketers in there who are willing to share their knowledge. I also like 100% commissions. Not many places you can get that!
In fact there is an experienced internet marketer who joined Empower mid December. I heard him interviewed last week. He said he had been watching for a year before he put his name to it. He said once they had overcome Merchant issues, Website issues and more he was convinced they were strong. He is his first 19 days with Empower Network made $528,000.
I did say he was experienced so of course that is far from normal. He brought with him some very loyal followers. He put his reputation behind it after observing for a year. He said this was what he wanted to focus on for 2013 because he believes it is the best place to help people get results.
Now to some of the myths or common perceptions I have heard and read.
Empower Network teaches people to spam their links everywhere. – Not true. Sure it happens but it is not what is being taught. Far from what is being taught. There are a lot of spammers out there and unfortunately some of them joined Empower.
I do not want to blog everyday. – It is one of the Core Commitment of Empower Network that they say you should blog daily. Now the truth is not everyone even uses their blog. I heard one top earner say recently when he was teaching his method of Solo Ads that he has not used the blog and has no intention of doing so. He does Solo Ads only.
What is being taught in Empower is when you are starting out to blog daily and use social media to build relationships until you have the funds to do paid marketing. Some experienced marketers have come in and started with paid methods only.
It is not a proper blog and people are not being taught how to blog. – True it is a limited version of WordPress with not as much ability to do things like we can do on our own blogs. The upside is that it is all set up for you and it costs only $25 a month to host and maintain.
There are products in Empower Network that have the most awesome blogging training I have seen. When someone starts out if they cannot afford the products most groups offer their own training. Many of the leaders have got together to provide training.
I belong to the Prosperity Group and the training in that is from basic to advanced in blogging. And it is free as long as you are in Empower Network and join EZ Money Method. If your are in Empower and not getting training and support from your sponsor check it out on my link here EZMM.
You are not branding yourself – this is a big one and one I must confess I was concerned about. Then I decided I am not quitting my Sue J Price blog. Most of the big names in Empower Network still have their own blog or website. If anything they are getting way more exposure because they all teach on calls, webinars and some of the products that are being sold. They get huge exposure through Empower Network.
It is a Cult? – I love that one! I guess to some degree it is but is that bad? It is no different than any MLM I have been around. The culture encourages people to be themselves. There are people from all walks of life and parts of the globe. There are people in their teenage years right up to people in their 80’s. I love it!
In Summary
Their training is excellent. They are remaking one of their products titled The $15K Formula. It is a series of webinars with the best training I have ever seen from beginners to advanced on how to build a business online.
The training can be applied to any business you want to do on the internet not just Empower Network.
Some of my best online friends are not fans of Empower Network. This post is not to convert anyone I merely wanted to share my reasons for what I am doing this year.
And of course if you are thinking about joining I would love to partner with you so here is my join link.
Have I helped at all in Debunking the Myths of Empower Network? I would love your feedback and thoughts.

Hi Sue,
I have heard mixed reviews about Empower Network so I don’t know which is reality. I guess like any Network Marketing business you can earn some real good cash but of course for newbies this will not be easy.
Good luck on your Empower Network Journey in 2013.
Sue Price says
Hi Justin
Oh yes there are mixed opinions on Empower. Just a point of clarification Empower is not a Network Marketing business. It is really direct sales and has a couple of features that are like MLM but it is not the same.
Thanks for your comment Justin.

Sue,
I like the way you framed this post. Taking some of the myths…or concerns people have about Empower Network. That cult one cracks me up. No one is forcing you to drink the Kool-aid!
One of the reasons I like Empower is that they are showing how to be a leader in your business by NOT holding your hand. So many people join companies (mlm, direct sales or otherwise) and demand attention from their sponsors since they don’t have enough confidence in themselves.
Most people don’t realize that this is a death trap for most. Empower is literally empowering you to figure this out. Yes all the training you’ll ever need on marketing is in the products. And yes the simple blog system may not be up to par for the advanced (branded) blogger.
But where else will you get the truth about our industry AND the knowledge of how to build a lasting business online?

Sue Price says
Hi Ken
I laugh at some of the concerns too.
I could not agree more with the way they teach people to be responsible. I know I have held the hand of people in MLM before and it does nothing for the person and wears you out.
It is really the training I love most. It is somewhere people can come to and really learn how to market online and do anything with it. It is the best training I know of for sure.
As you know Ken I had reservations and a very rocky start with EN but I now have faith in the leadership.
Thanks for your input Ken.

Hi Sue,
I personally know few successful people useing EN and invited me to there too dear 🙂 Well, I can’t blame on anything without trying but I can say the ones who use resources effectively will thrive for sure.
One of my friend also told me about blogging daily after she joins with EN and I’ve seen her success with blogging daily. Also I know some folks don’t recommend EN as they didn’t find it helpful. However commitment and our priorities matters before we follow everything, right Sue? 🙂
I hope folks will read your experience and switch to EN if that’s what they seeking for 🙂 Well, gotta try and see, no? 🙂
Have a wonderful week over there dear 🙂
Cheers…
Sue Price says
Hi Mayura
I think most people now either know people in Empower or have tried it. I am sure you have heard both good and bad reviews. A year ago I would have given a really bad one when they had all the initial problems.
What I like most is their training and the positive culture.
Thanks for your comment Mayura and you have a great rest of your week too.

Hi Sue,
That’s excellent that you made everything clear for everyone here. And because I know you more personally, Sue, I know that everything you’re saying has got to be true.
It’s true that there’s lots of negatives going around about Empower Network, and as for me the one thing I do not like is their blogs, but I couldn’t say anything about their training as I have never attended one, but I trust you that it must as good as you said.
It’s very good to set your mind up on one thing and one thing only until you master it. I am sure that you’ll do great Sue, and I can vouch for you anytime if you need me 🙂
Sue Price says
Hi Sylviane
Yes there are a lot of negatives on Empower and because they are so visible all over the internet there will probably always be that.
Their blogs are not ideal for any serious blogger. Most of the high income earners in there still have their own blog or website depending on what they do. Not everyone wants to build their own blog so for some it is good.
Thanks for your comments and support Sylviane. It is not for everyone for sure.
See you very soon.

Adrienne says
Hey Sue,
Ah, we all have our opinions don’t we! But that’s a good thing because if we all thought the same way I think it would be kind of boring.
I know that Empower Network doesn’t teach people how to do things the wrong way. But there are people out there always trying to inflate how things are done and then not following the training or take the steps they are being taught. Because of that leads to people spamming and it’s happened to more companies then just Empower.
I’ve never been a part of Empower myself but that was my own personal choice. I have no doubt that it’s a good program if used correctly and I know several people personally that are making some darn good money through their system.
I’m happy for you if you’ve decided to dig in and start learning and promoting it. I will wish you the very best of luck with that because I know the kind of person you are. Top notch in my book.
Thanks Sue for your honest review.
~Adrienne
Sue Price says
Hi Adrienne
Absolutely if we were all the same life would be boring.
I agree there will always be people who spam and do not do what they are being taught. You are spot on it is with way more companies than Empower. It is one of the reasons the MLM model does not have such a good name. People spamming their links or pushing their gig onto people who are not interested.
I know it is not your thing and that is cool. And you are correct there are people making very good money.
Thanks for your support of me with it Adrienne. I actually stopped promoting it all together last year when our upline in the MLM we joined told me to leave it. I never left because my costs were covered so I could not see the point. I just sat on it. I also did not want to promote it after their interstitial problems They were a nightmare! I have always had respect for Dave Wood as crazy as he is he is brilliant really.
Thanks again for commenting Adrienne and see you soon.

Interesting article Sue! Still not convinced I’m afraid. I have serious reservations about EN, but I’ll not air them here! I wish you every success with it and thanks for trying to clarify some of the more common issues with it. ~Robin~
Sue Price says
Hi Robin
Thanks for your comment. I had a lot of reservations too. I joined soon after they launched so went through all the challenges so I just sat on it.
I see you are in Numis. I hope that is going well for you.
Have a great day.
Sue
Robin J Emdon says
Hey Sue!
Yeah Numis is awesome! I’ve been through a few MLM’s , learnt a lot about how NOT to do things! LOL – Numis is something else, never seen anything answer so many of the traditional objections to joining an MLM so comprehensively!
With EN… as long as you stay focused on your OWN brand Sue… the wonderful, the marvellous Sue Price (fanfare!) and don’t lose that identity, whatever happens to EN longer term, you’ll be fine. Enjoy the ride! *smiles.
~Robin~
Sue Price says
Hi Robin I asked about Numis as I am in there too. Will send you a message via Facebook. Oh I will not lose my own identity Robin.
Thanks for your input here.

SUe,
If you market strong and often, EN can be good for you. I was All IN for about a year decided that I didn’t resonate with the young gunz and some of the Brand Yourself that you just couldn’t do. They work hard. They have some very good training. And they have backed off of the “Blog every day and people like you will find you and they will sign up because of out highly converting videos.” Without some kind of marketing that path was a slow slow death.
Anyway Good Luck to you in 2013
Dr. Hale
Sue Price says
Hi Hale
I did not know you were in there so thanks for the share here. I agree totally that you need a marketing path or it will not work. I just love their training. I also love their spirit and the way they have overcome their obstacles. I quite like the young blood in there – makes me feel like a kid again LOL
Have a great weekend Hale.

I joined, paid my fee, was assigned to a Newbie like myself (African country 12 hour time zone difference).
Necessary to pay monthly for bank processing…and at my level (what I could afford) would lose compensation if someone signed up through me, but at a higher level.
Total monthly commitment $45 a month…
For me, more cons than pros, so I left.
Was disappointed that the above was not disclosed before I paid and of course the payment was non refundable…is it still?
Noticed that the real “Money Makers” were in the top signup category, even though Sales Page promoted for the Newbie and those currently not making money online.
Sue Price says
Hi Carata
I am not sure I understand when you say you were assigned to a Newbie. Do you mean your sponsor? Also do you live in Africa? I am in Australia so I have an enormous time difference but I find that does not concern me. I can listen to recordings very easily.
They are very clear that there are no refunds. It is on the sign up page as I remember. I do not know what you mean by the non disclosure. Do you mean the affiliate fee?
I am sorry you did not have a good experience. It is not for everyone.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sue. Thanks for giving an honest review on Empower. I have to admit, I have been entirely skeptical about it I think mainly because of the people who have pitched it to me! Trust in the people/team you are working with has a lot to do with it. You gave the best information on Empower and made it clear what you like about it. Good luck to you in your decision to focus on Empower. Best of luck to you.
Sue Price says
Hi Barbara
I know there are a lot of people pitching heavily and spamming and of course that gives the company a bad name. They have absolutely had their problems along the way but I love those two guys determination and drive to make it work.
I have been fascinated by Dave Woods since I first came online. I think because he has the courage to really be who he is so publicly. Given he was brought up in a Mormon family in Alaska he has really broken free 🙂 You know he is so accepting of people though no matter what their beliefs.
Thanks for wishing me luck with it. I know I would always have your support.
Have a calm and enjoyable weekend Barbara.

Interesting, I have seen empower network everywhere and at some point a long time ago I did look into it but I could never figure out what the heck it was about and it seemed very ubiquitous and vague. Nowadays there is a lot more about it and people talking about it (like you!)
I don’t have much of an opinion either way. I’m sure it can work for some people and not work for others! That’s the way everything works, right? If it’s working for you, and the training is good and you’re enjoying it, then that’s all that matters. People will always complain!
Sue Price says
Hi Carol
It has taken even the founders time to articulate what Empower is about so not surprised you could not figure it out. Most people think of it more as a blogging platform and others think it is an MLM.
It is like anything on the internet – there is a product and if we choose to sell it we need buyers. They are selling training. As I said in the post there are people who just do paid marketing and sell it and never use the blog.
You are spot on there will always be people who complain about anything really. And yes it will work for some and not for others as you have said.
Thanks for your comment Carol. Have a great weekend.

Donna Merrill says
Hi Sue!
I had to laugh when people say “is it a cult” Of course not. Empower, like any other network marketing system has it’s pros and cons for each individual.
For me, personally, it doesn’t fit in with my marketing plan. Neither does any network right now – but that is just me! When I blogged about it months ago, there have been so many people with different ideas on it. The comments were just great! I’ve never put it down on my blog, only said that it didn’t fit with me.
On the other hand, there are so many of my friends doing a great business with this platform. When I purchased it I was “all in” as they say and the trainings were excellent, especially for a newbie.
More seasoned marketers use another blog, beside their empower one and yes, others were highly successful when using a mailing list. I think Empower got a bad rap from a few people that didn’t know what they were doing at first, jumped the gun and spammed.
That’s just human nature! Many people will go out there to say “buy me” instead of taking their time and building up a good business. Hey, we see it all the time with many different companies.
As for Dave Wood: He is an excellent teacher with a good heart. I took all his trainings and they were not only informative but honest and funny too.
Well that’s my two cents Sue. Glad you wrote this post because so many people want me to explain Empower to them. Now, I can send them this link!
Donna Merril
Sue Price says
Hi Donna
The cult thing amuses me too. People have said that about Robert Kiyosaki followers. In fact the first course he used to teach out here was called Money and You. It was in the late 80s and early 90s. He had one of our current affair type shows do a really negative show on it saying he was a cult leader and brainwashed people! Teaching people to think outside the box apparently is a sin for some people. If you stand up and stand out there will always be people who criticize you. It is why I believe so many people settle for mediocrity. Do you agree?
I totally understand EN does not fit where you are going and that is perfectly okay. We all are different and have different plans and goals. Imagine if we were all the same. How boring that would be.
The spammers give many things a bad name. I remember coming online and seeing the same happening around the Jonathan Budd 7 Figure platform.
I just love Dave Wood. Of course he too has people who do not like him. I have a good friend who will not even listen to him because he swears (glad she is not in our hangouts 🙂 ). I love that he is so willing to be who he is and no apologies. I think it is great. Dave Sharpe is also very much from his heart.
The think I love most Donna is the willingness of most of the leaders to share what has made them successful. It is very refreshing.
I would love you to send anyone to this post 🙂
Thanks for your input and have a good weekend. Hope David is up and about soon.

Neamat Tawadrous says
Hi Sue,
That’s a great clarification of what Empower Network is all about.
I heard a lot about Empower Network. The negative and the positive. But I also heard of great names involved in it and are making great money.
The last thing I heard about Empower Network is that their platform is saturated with marketers and those who joined at the beginning are the ones who are making the money but the newbies will struggle to build it. I don’t know how true is that but it is the last thing I heard.
Thanks Sue for sharing this review about Empower Network and I am sure it will help lots of people to make their decision.
Be Blessed,
Neamat
Sue Price says
Hi Neamat
There are many comments about Empower for sure.
Let me answer the comment “The last thing I heard about Empower Network is that their platform is saturated with marketers and those who joined at the beginning are the ones who are making the money but the newbies will struggle to build it. I don’t know how true is that but it is the last thing I heard”
That one is definitely untrue. There highest income earner of all time is a guy who joined in December 2011 and in just over a month has made almost $800,000! There are many people who came it late who are doing well. This guy is clearly not representative of the average internet marketer. For most people it takes time to get momentum like any business. So it makes sense that the people who came in early and have been consistent in their marketing are doing well. But then you get someone like this guy!
Thanks so much for your comment Neamat. Have an awesome rest of the week.

Viola Tam says
Hi Sue,
What a great article! I have been invited many times to join Empower Network. My main reason for not joining are : (1) Do not wish to be distracted from my Network Marketing business and because of the technical set up, and (2) issues about Personal Branding.
I agree with you that as you are quitting your Sue J Price blog, that issue is no longer an issue.
I am glad that you have made this choice and sharing this with many others who may be confused too. Well done!
Viola The Business Mum
Sue Price says
Hi Viola
I would be shocked if you had not been invited to join Empower :-).
Your first reason for not joining is a very valid one. I have seen many people who have been successful in Network Marketing come into EN an then put their Network Marketing business on hold. Not all but it can be a distraction for sure. Others who were burned out in Network Marketing have seen this as a better model for them as they are not spending the same time on the phone.
Your second one was a concern for me but I would never let my own blog go so as you say it is a not an issue then. I was initially attracted to it as not everyone in network marketing wants their own blog. I totally lost sight of building my business when I first came online.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Viola I appreciate it.

I appreciate your effort to write a positive review about Empower Network , but I still think having your own blog, and your own domain is the key to go. You have to buy their product before you can sell them an earn 100% commissions.
Sue Price says
Hi Maya
Yes you do have to buy Empower Network’s product to sell it – or them. But that goes with the majority of affiliate programs – you have to buy to sell. At the end of the day even with our own blog we need to find a way to monetize it.
Thanks for your comment.
