Be Do Have and Create More Success in your life.
Most people approach life back to front.
They think when I have X – ( being the end goal) , then I will do all the things I want to do and then I will be X (whatever the end goal is for them).
So they are working on Have Do Be.
A good example is money. If you want more money in your life you might think “when I am financially free I will do all the things I want to do and then I will be happy”. This idea and approach is not going to get you to financial freedom.
In fact you should be approaching it the other way. BE Do Have
You need to start being the person your really want to become = BE
and doing the actions that that person would do = DO
and then you will have the thing it is you want = HAVE
Back to our Money Example
If you think you will be your happiest when you have financial freedom. And it won’t be until you have financial freedom that you will start doing the things that make you happy. Then you would not start doing anything until you have the money…and how are you going to reach financial freedom and a happy life if you don’t act until you have it?
Can you see how this idea does not work? Complex I know but so important to get.
Because we aren’t “being” the person who is financially free and happy right from the beginning, and doing the things or making the choices that a person who is financially free and happy does, then our journey to having financial freedom and a happy life will be very long and difficult one.
Be Do Have
When I first heard this concept taught some 20+ years ago I just did not get it. Over the years I have become clearer and clearer on the concept. If you have not heard it before then don’t be concerned if it seems a bit difficult to grasp.
How can I BE when I do not HAVE?
In our money example you might be thinking “if I do not have the money that I require to do certain things then I cannot do them”.
I know that is what I thought when I first heard this concept.
Let’s look at that……. If it starts with Being then ask yourself how will you behave when you are financially free? How will you feel? How will you think, make decisions, act and walk? You see we can change all those things right now.
We can be that person we want to be right now. Do you see that?
It is very much based on The Law of Attraction which is based on “like attracts like” so whatever we give our focus to we will bring into our life. So in our money example if we think about what we do not have we get more of not having. If we behave and think like we do already have the money we desire we will attract it.
Now we are talking about BE DO HAVE – and there is a word Do in there. So Law of Attraction is not about sitting around in some woo woo way thinking we will magically manifest our hearts desires. We must take the actions. BE DO HAVE
So we start by Being the person we want to be, Doing what that person would do and then we will have. Make sense?
BE DO HAVE – Another example might be if you want to lose weight.
Clearly if you do not take actions like a slimmer person would take you are probably not going to see many results.
Instead you could start focusing on “being” the slimmer person.
How would a slimmer person eat? What would that person do after dinner….go for a walk or sit down and watch television for the rest of the evening?
By being that slimmer person in your mind you will make better choice (the Doing) and ultimately you will get the results – HAVE.
Have you practiced this concept? If so in which areas of your life? Please share any results and ways it has worked for you. Is there an area of your life you can use this concept now?
So what does Be Do Have have to do with my Home Based Business? – everything! Are you being the person you want to be in your business? Are you thinking like the business owner you aspire to be? Are you doing the things that you need to do to be successful? If you are, you are on your way to having the success you aspire to have.
If you have found BE DO HAVE and Create More Success valuable please share it with your friends. Most people are trying to do it back to front.

I get the picture Sue!
It reminds me of a book I read some years ago called “Rich Woman” by Kim Kiyosaki. I see it on your side bar also so I know you are familiar with it. After reading that book I had an AHA moment. I found myself one day out on my back porch of my home, smelling the summer air, looking at the lovely flowers around me and as I threw my hands up in the air, I shouted out “I Am A Rich Woman!”
Yes, I have higher financial goals, but live pretty comfortably now. I aspire to live in a different setting, have more fluent cash, etc. But, I am living as a “Rich Woman” because I feel it in my being.
What would I do if I had more money? Probably the same thing I’m doing now, but with more luxury. So Instead of flying across the world to go to a health spa, I go to a local one for the day. It is the same feeling and it is an action.
Would I be eating in a 5 star restaurant every night? No, because I like whole foods. Instead I would have a chef! But right now, I make my own food and it is of the highest quality of organic food I can find…..”I am a rich woman!”
Would I be dressing different? Hmmm maybe because I’m a clothes horse. But for now, I can purchase designer clothes on the 85% off wrack and feel like a rich woman.
So, bottom line I think I Be Do Have in many ways along my journey. Do I have financial freedom? Yes for 30 years now. I am grateful for that and all the pleasure I receive from living my life.
Yes I do have goal x, but I live like I have it already. And it all came from the book “Rich Woman”
Thanks for bringing up this topic because I know it works well.

Hey Donna we have so much in common 🙂
I have read Kim’s book but where I first heard the concept was way before Kim wrote it or for that matter before Robert wrote Rich Dad Poor Dad. The Kiyosaki’s were in a business partnership with a woman called DC Cordova. They ran courses back in the eighties and early nineties. It was there they taught the concept. Of course having later worked with them I have heard them both teach it. Each time I think I got deeper distinctions.
Now to our similarities, I too would jump on a plane to go to an overseas health spa, I absolutely aspire to having a chef. I had a full time house keeper at one stage and she was a chef. It was at a time when we were doing very well in our business at the time. I would do it again. I would not eat out every night either just for the same reason as you. Oh and I too love clothes. I am an absolute shoe addict but now living where I do in a beach resort place no one wheres them much.
Great you have been financially free for so long. We have been very well off and then broke a few times over. Getting back up there. I would like to have done it your way. This time around I have no desire to build an empire. Just be financially free.
I really get you have the concept down pat Donna.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a great week.

Be Do Have!! Yeah Sue! I’ve written about this many times! So cool! And you’ve explained it REALLY well here!
So much to with the Law of Vibration – it’s science – that’s what it is!
~Robin~
Sue Price says
Oh thank your Robin I was a bit concerned I was not explaining it well. Great you have also written about it. I think the understanding of it needs to be out there as so many people do it back to front.
It is science and isn’t it funny that so many people think of Law of Attraction as some weird new age thing. Clearly it is not.
Thanks for your comment Robin.

Thanks Sue!
This sequence you describe is so important. As I was learning these principles, I was focused on lack. I never had enough to pay the bills, to go out and eat, I even asked my kids for money. It wasn’t until I read Secrets of the Millionaire Mind that it hit me between the eyes. There was a principle mentioned that said “The True Measure of Wealth is Net Worth not Net Income” I realized that no matter how much I made, if I spent more I would never achieve my goals. So I started focusing on my Net Worth and eliminating debt. It took a while but I am now experiencing a very comfortable lifestyle. So what does that have to do with be, do, have? Until I BEcame a financially responsible person, the Universe would not give me any more to manage.
Sue Price says
Hi Dick
Thanks for sharing your experience. That is a good example of the be do have principle. You became as you say financially responsible and you were being who you aspired to be. Thanks that is a great example.
I think most of us learned this type of thinking and approach from a book or such. I first heard it from Robert Kiyosaki.
Thanks again for first finding my blog and for your comment.
Have a great week.

Sylviane Nuccio says
Hi Sue,
That’s exactly right!
Most people say when I have, when I am, etc…. I’ll do this or that. The problem with that is that’s anti-law of attraction, so to speak.
The law of attraction says “be, do, have” before, and then, you’ll receive that to be, to do and to have.
If your emotions and vibrations are in the lack and you are saying I will when… you just won’t, because what you are vibrating is lack. All you will get is more lack.
Don’t fool yourself, if you want to be, do and have. Do it now!
Thank you for this great topic!
Sue Price says
Hi Sylviane
I knew you understood it 🙂 It is interesting that most people approach it back to front. I think the money one is the most difficult for people. It is why thing like that game Raena is playing are good for people to get into the swing of focusing on the being.
It really did take me a while to get this idea in my head though Sylviane.
Hope your weeks is going well.

What a wonderful post Sue, thank you so much for sharing this. I love this…
I first learned this when I worked with the spiritual life coach about three years ago now. I sort of understood the law of attraction but like most people only got bits and pieces of it. She explained this to me and it’s like a light went on. Now actually doing it is the hard step but like anything else it takes practice.
To change old habits we have to implement new ones and do them on a consistent basis. Over time they will become second nature. So once you learn to act like we already have, you are so right, it will start to show up.
I’m actually doing a similar post on this topic for my next post since it’s Valentine. Why not share a little love right!
Great great share, just love this post.
~Adrienne
Sue Price says
Hi Adrienne
Glad you liked the post and also glad you have already been introduced to the concept. I agree with you the doing is the difficult bit as habits are entrenched but we can change.
Even though I know this concept I tend to revert to the old way of approaching things when it is something new and totally our of my comfort zone. For example when I first came online I kept telling everyone I could not do technology. This continued well into the beginning of the second year I was online. We used to have a weekly blogging mastermind with Jodie Thompson and Kimberly Castleberry for our Profit Being You group. I was saying my usual “cant do” with something and Jodie stopped me and said something like “Sue stop saying that it is no longer the truth”. So everyone else agreed they were not listening to me any more.
Last weekend our television set magically lost a bunch of channels. Mainly the ones we watch. We were going to get a technician out and then I heard myself say “oh I will play around and see if I can fix it – I am pretty good at tech stuff” – And I fixed it. So we can change. 🙂
I am so looking forward to reading your Valentines Day post you have me intrigued now 🙂
Thanks for your comment and feedback Adrienne. I appreciate it.

Love this post, Sue. It’s a really interesting concept and turns our usual thinking on its head. I have heard some variation of this, something to the effect that you should act like who you want to be. I’ve also heard “like attracts like”. But usually its abstract and I never really give it much thought. You brought the idea to life and gave me something to think about.
I wish I could say I already do this but the fact is, I usually think like everyone else… “when this happens then I will have what I want and be happy”. It really is futile thinking. I try not to go down that road because it’s mostly about wishful thinking instead of taking action, and I guess that’s important since it’s right in the middle of BE and HAVE! I am not always good at it but I do try to focus on action rather than that if/then thinking.
Really enjoyed this and it will give me something good to practice!
Sue Price says
Hi Carol
It is a pretty deep concept and you are far from alone it doing it the other way. I too have heard the “act like who you want to be” and of course like attracts like. I think most people that are open have heard of the concepts these days but few practice them. Hey you are aware of your thoughts and know what is important. It is then a matter of catching ourselves when we are thinking or behaving in ways that do not serve us.
I have just started a practice I did for a time then dropped it I hate to say. It is when I first get out of bed saying “who am I going to be today?” If I get rattled by some little thing I can usually catch myself and look for a better way to be.
It makes sense though doesn’t it?
Thanks for sharing here Carol I appreciate it.

Excellent post Sue! I definitely with the Be Do Have approach as it’s the only way to make the Law of Attraction work for us. So many people approach life the other way around and they don,t understand why they don’t have the success they are expecting.
Sue Price says
Hi Shanna
Thanks for your comment and so glad you understand this principle. It is so misunderstood by most people. As you say many approach life the other way and never get what they really want.
Thanks for dropping by here.

Great information Sue and although I’m aware of the Law of Attraction, never really heard this explained this way. Great insight. Love it. And you explained it quite well. I think I may have some adjusting to do in my thinking so I can always have. I need to be more consistent so that this works for me all the time. Great reminder for me. Thanks for sharing.

Barbara
Sue Price says
Hi Barbara
This one is a concept I knew of long before I heard about law of attraction. I did not really get it at the time. I do not think there are too many people who are consistent with doing it the way we should to get the results we want but as long as we are aware of it we can correct along the way.
I am glad you thought I explained it well as I was not sure I was doing that – so thank you!
And thanks for your comment.

Hi Sue,
That is known as “the fool’s equation.” We do have it backwards for sure. We need to start with the state of being and the lifestyle we want and then the rest will absolutely fall into place. Especially in our business.
Sue Price says
Hi Justin
Thanks for your comment. I wonder where we started as a human race to get it so back to front. I guess it goes a long way back. The main thing is now though that people get to know they can approach life differently.
I have never heard it referred to as “the fool’s equation” but that makes sense and means most people are approaching life as fools 🙂
Thanks for your comment Justin.

Hi Sue,
Once a friend of mine said she wanna earn money online. I asked “Why?” as she already having a job. She said when she has enough money, she will spend more time with her daughters without worrying about financial freedom, quit her boring day job and few more things she will do.
Hmm… People think that way 🙂 But even she achieves it after a long time and most likely she has to change her mind ’cause things might have changed like being retired and daughters are married.
I’ve heard that dream what you wanna be and act accordingly with no delay 😉 I’m not much exposed to this though I tend to figure out some aspects of it Sue. Feel like it relates with procrastination too. Is it?
Well, I can feel the improvement I’ve had by changing some of my habits and thinking patterns, plus I think I need some more focus on this one Sue.
Thank you for sharing about this and you are very true, personal development is for ones who wanna be successful 😉
Have a wonderful week dear 🙂
Cheers…
Sue Price says
Hi Mayura
Your friend is so typical of what most people do. Thinking one day she will have more time with her daughters. I did the same thing when my daughter was young. We had a business which was not home based and I worked a lot of hours so we could have a better life in the future. I missed out on so much of her life when she was young. It is a mistake as you can never get that time back.
I think procrastination is often a part of people not doing things now. I also think that often we do not know how the successful business person thinks. That is why reading books and articles on successful people is important.
I think you have figured a lot of things out Mayura. I see the blogs you visit and you are learning from some people who know a lot about the laws of the universe. Not many of us learned these things growing up.
Thanks for your comment Mayura and you have a lovely weekend. It is just now early Friday evening where I live in Australia.

Be Do Have rule is extremely important for those who work at home. In order not yeild to lazyness and procrastination you have to control yourself and take actions.
Thank you, Sue, for a great article.
Sue Price says
Hi Matt
I agree with you it is very easy to procrastinate when we work from home. It is also easy to get caught up in “busy work”. I think if we ask our selves what the successful business owner would be doing right now we know what is important.
Thanks for your comment Matt.

Hi Aayna
It is a concept that takes a bit of getting our heads around but it is important for us to achieve our dreams and goals. I agree with you that we all at times make the mistake of going against the law of attraction.
Thanks for your comment I appreciate it.
Have a great weekend.

Hello Sue,
It was an exciting and wonderful post! I enjoyed reading it. I can relate to it in many ways and have somewhat experienced what it can do and what it did for me gave me the inspiration to actually start my bog a few years ago. I lost a massive amount of weight and your “BE DO HAVE” suggestion had A LOT to do with it. Now, my next “BE DO HAVE” project is to better understand the basics of blogging and solve my many technical issues. I’ve discovered Adrienne Smith and Dan Sumner a few months back and thier acquaintance has made a world of difference for me. I really care a lot about both of them – as I continue to enlarge my circle of blogging friends. Your great post really hit home! Again I loved it!!
Thanks,

Hi Les
Thanks for fining my blog and for your comment. I am pleased you can relate to my post. Good on you for losing a great deal of weight and considering you used this BE DO HAVE idea in that I know you understand it.
Blogging is a bit of a minefield at first. Even Adrienne says she was confused when she started so know it happened to everyone. It is great that you have found Adrienne as her tips and posts are excellent. I know of Dan Sumner but have not followed him. I am sure he is good resource. Another great blog to follow is Kimberly Castleberry at http://just-ask-kim.com/ Kimberly has some great wordpress tips, tutorial and runs monthly webinars where you can ask questions. Get on her newsletter. Kim has a technical background so some of it goes over my head but she has helped me heaps.
Thanks again for your comment Les.

Great post. I have found many people want something but are not willing to take action to get it. Two common reasons why people do not take action is because of either fear or laziness. Both can hold a person back from their potential and benefits of taking action.
I’m looking forward to reading more of your posts.
Sue Price says
Hi Dan
I agree laziness and fear are two big reasons why people do not take action. I think also far too many people are just in their comfort zone. Clearly if we want different results in our lives we need to take different actions.
Thanks for your comment Dan, I appreciate it.

Hi Chery
Thanks for your feedback and for reading this post first 🙂 I think the next one does not make as much sense without this one. Thank you so much too for saying you love my style I really appreciate that!
It took me a long time to really understand Be Do Have. It is not the easiest concept to grasp given most people approach life the other way.

Hello Sue and Happy Sunday,
Again…a steller post on what you need to do to be where you want to be!! I so enjoyed your post as I have proven this “Be, Do and Have” idea to myself several times. Why did I not keep doing it? Simply because I did not know that I was doing at the time, it by it’s actual definition! If I could only go back 20 or 30 years. On a POSITIVE note…I’m one who believes that it’s never too late so I’ve decided to try it again! Thanks for the inspiring and motivating article.
Best Regards,

Hi Les
I won’t say happy Sunday to you as it is no longer Sunday 🙂
I am glad you enjoyed the post. I think many of us have lived BE DO HAVE at times of our lives without knowing the concept. I believe that when we understand some of these concepts as principles to success then we can apply them more regularly. It I find myself feeling flat or not being who I want to be I can pick myself up relatively quickly.
I share your view it is never too late.
Thanks for sharing here Les, I appreciate it.
