About Sue
Welcome to my blog!
Hi there, my name is Sue Price. In this blog I will share with you the wisdom and lessons from my life so far. My goal is for you to learn from my experiences, both the good and the bad. In fact I have learned more from my struggles than my successes.
On my blog you will find education on becoming financially free, mindset, personal development and living life to the fullest.
So first a little about me..
I grew up in Perth, Western Australia with one brother and hard working parents who, having been born just before the Great Depression, wanted a better life for us. I left school before university to work, then traveled interstate and then overseas. I learned a lot during this time of spreading my wings.
In my twenties I returned to my home town in Western Australia to complete a business degree, majoring in accounting. I then worked as a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) and eventually had my own practice.
During these years I worked with many small to medium business owners and watched so many of them being slaves to their business! Something always felt wrong about the model. So many people have their own business and work like a slave, having zero life while they do it – with the ultimate goal to one day sell the business and then have freedom!
Some of these clients seemed to enjoy what they did but most did not. They had truly become slaves to their own creation. Most had no idea of “working on their business” rather than in it. In reflection I was just like them.
During these years I married my husband, making me a step mother to 3- an instant family – yikes! We had our own daughter and it was my plan to work very part time while she was young. But that was not to be.
My husband had a large farm machinery dealership in country Western Australia and the parent company went into receivership. You can read more about that at What Happens When Your Game is Changed Overnight.
In summary I went back into my accounting career and my dream of being pretty much a full time Mum pretty much vanished. In those days there was no internet and the idea of a home based business had not yet started.
I then furthered my studies and became a Certified Financial Planner. Along with my husband and another partner we built a sizeable independent financial planning practice in Perth. Again I witnessed clients trying to get ahead, many working in the Rat Race and dreaming of freedom. I was one of them and I was obsessed with building an empire.
My next professional journey was into marketing financial products in the mid-nineties. This business took us from Perth to Sydney. We enjoyed very quick almost instant success and within a short time built a business with large overheads and staff. However this success was not to last and this was to become one of my biggest “learning experiences”.
We had built our business using taxation laws that were changed retrospectively making our business model obsolete overnight. It felt like history was repeating it’s self in our lives. Of course it was, it seemed we had not learned the lessons the first time around.
When the Farm Machinery business failed we vowed never to be with just one dealer again and to have multiple streams of income. We had fallen back into the trap of relying on one source of income, even though we knew this was not a good business model. I also learned that governments change their mind and there is no fighting that!
I am grateful that through these ups and downs I had been involved in personal development. If I had not, then I might have had a different mindset for getting through the struggles. At least I knew I (we) were responsible for our results in life.
Personal Development
I have had a passion for learning and personal development since the late seventies. I completed many seminars but the one that was to change my life significantly came along for me in 1992.
It was with Robert Kiyosaki, the great financial educator and author of Rich Dad Poor Dad. I did several workshops with Robert and he challenged everything I had learned as an accountant and a financial planner. I learned more from him about money than I did at university!! You can read about much of my learning in my blog posts.
My next adventure, after our experience with the Australian Taxation office, was as CEO of a company that brought international educators to Australia. These included Robert Kiyosaki and other greats. During my years in this role I learned much about wealth creation, the importance of residual income and internet marketing. My life was very much a full time personal development course over this time! I loved these years and learned so much. I feel very blessed to have had this experience to work so closely with many great people.
As a result of this learning I commenced a business in network marketing and recently have expanded into internet marketing. Coming online has been a huge learning curve for me as when I first ventured on to the internet I was a technophobe. That has changed
I now combine my previous experiences with my new passion for the internet and technology. I currently live a relatively balanced life in a beach resort town in Queensland, Australia which is very beautiful. I work from home with my husband and our dog keeps us company.
I only wish the internet had been around when my daughter was little. Parents now can build a home based business and be there for their kids. It is my passion to help people do that. Our kids grow up too quickly and you can never get the time back again.
I am all about helping people achieve freedom… whatever that means to you.
