I heard these 5 tips for success in your business on a live webinar last week. I share the tip then expand it with my perspective.
There are many people who have written on this subject but somehow some of the fundamentals do not get followed. Even when we know them!
The person running the webinar was Vick Strizheus and it was actually a Q & A session on generating traffic on the internet. The questions being asked led to Vick summarizing his tips for success.
5 Tips for Success in Your Business
Tip 1
Vick’s advice – Improve yourself first. Be the best version of yourself you can be every single day. Be the person others would like to be. Be emotionally fit, physically fit, and mentally fit.
Vick shared that he goes into “wisdom accumulation mode” at least once a month where he spends a day accumulating more wisdom.
My take – Great advice and I agree this is the most things we need to do to succeed. If you have been reading my blog for any length of time you will know I am a great believer in the importance of our mindset and personal growth.
I have been blessed to be around personal development in a variety of formats for most of my life.
The business I am part of has as part of its core commitments to read daily and listen to a daily audio. I am not referring to the newspaper here 🙂 , to read something that expands your mind and listen to an uplifting audio.
I have worked with and know many very successful people and they all are keen readers and learners.
Tip 2
Vick’s advice – Be resourceful. He said it is very simple to make money on the internet but people are not successful because they are normally not being resourceful. He was referring to finding your own answers and that will make you a step ahead of your competition.
My take – it is about finding a way and going for it. The internet can be very confusing when we are new and it is very easy to go into overwhelm.
Google and YouTube are such great resources. If we do not know how to do something we can always find out by searching these two for starters.
Tip 3
Vick’s advice – Decide to not be typical. If you do what others are not willing to do life will be easier.
He suggests we should read for 30 minutes a day, listen to audio for 30 minutes a day and do this for 30 days straight and see what happens.
My take – Well I have never been typical so to me that is just common sense. But for many people I know they like to fit in.
Chances are if you are building an internet business you are more likely to be like me and willing to be different and take some risks.
Tip 4
Vick’s advice – Do Stuff! But the right stuff. Ask yourself what is the 2% of activity you need to do to get the 98% results. Focus on what matters in business, meaning the income producing activities.
My take – common sense really but how many of us do not do this. In my offline businesses I was really clear on what it was that made money and what needed to be done first. Online I need to be really careful not to waste time on things that do not matter.
I know people who have built businesses to 6 figures a year part time on the internet and say they did it in 2 hours a day. So it clearly can be done.
Tip 5
Vick’s advice – Expect to win and expect greatness! Study in your niche and become great.
My take – what we expect we will normally get.
A simple example of this is getting a parking spot.
If we are going somewhere busy and tell ourselves we will never find parking – chances are we will not.
But if we tell ourselves we will find a spot easily and visualize it happening we will most likely get it.
The parking works for me 98% of the time. The other 2% of times is when I allow that little voice to tell me how really busy it is – you know that voice J
Do you think these 5 tips for success in your business are useful?
I know there are books and articles naming many more than 5 but I loved the simplicity of these 5 tips.
Do you think any of these 5 tips is more important than the others? Do you have any more tips for success in business?
Make it a great day.

These tips are spot on Sue!
It all starts with our mindset. You know how strongly I believe in that one. We cannot get out there with a mind full of doubts. We need to clear our minds and do whatever it takes to change it to the positive.
Reading every day is absolutely necessary. It goes beyond the internet to a hand held book for me sometimes. I love marketing books because it does not only give me information, but pumps up my mindset.
As for “expectations” – Now that’s my favorite! I see myself in a certain place, living a certain lifestyle. I go back t this “place” and build on it more and more. It increases my expectations to reach my goals.
Great tips!

Hi Donna
I know you get the mindset necessity but it is amazing how many people do not. I hear what you say about a hand held book. I use a kindle these days and am used to it now but that took a bit. I have three books on there I am reading at the moment (well clearly not all together 🙂 )
I like to read success books as well as marketing and I love autobiographies.
I agree expectations are everything really. I like you have visualized places I have lived in before I have been there physically. We can have everything else seemingly in place but if we expect not to win we will not.
Thanks for your feedback Donna.

Hi Sue,
I like all the points you’ve shared. I would like to add some.
When I ran my computer company, the thrust of my business came from word of mouth. My focus was to offer value-added service, to give the customer more value than they paid for. I also learned form that experience, in developing relationships,
that it can take years to cultivate a relationship, but only seconds to lose one. I learned this from others who made the mistake of choosing money first and people last.
I also think that for a successful business, you need to be in alignment with your purpose, your mission and values. You simply can’t sell something you don’t believe in, nor can you offer any good inside information to a customer if you haven’t taken the time to understand the product and those who want it.
Hope this is helpful. Have a great rest of the week!

Hi Bill
Thanks for your additions to the post. They are perfect. I agree with the value add for sure that is important. And yes relationships are everything. we build a financial planning business mainly on referrals and you must nurture relationships to do that.
I smile Bill as for a part of my life I did business coaching getting business owners to get clear about their vison, mission and values. I don’t think we called it purpose but the idea was similar.
Thanks very much Bill and yes very helpful addition to the post.
You too have a great rest of your week.

Hey Sue,
I love those five steps, your take and Vicks.
Ah, the way we think about things. For those who have never tried something as simple as the parking spot exercise then they don’t get it. I was having a conversation with a friend the other day and he was complaining that nothing was going his way. I asked him what was going on and explain it to me.
You know the poor pitiful me excuses so I have been watching a lot of Abraham’s videos lately and in the past some of what was shared just didn’t really click with me but for some reason I watched a particular one and it did. So I was able to share with him why his way of thinking didn’t work and the more I explained to him the more he got it. I had him start out with simple exercises as well and he called me the other day and was jumping for joy because something went his way. The difference is that he “knew” it would instead of just “hoping”.
Anyway, way too much on that subject but everything you shared here is the truth. It’s that same old story of staying in the same mindset and doing the same stuff will give us the same results. We need to expand our minds, do the work that will bring the results and then we’ll end up being within that 2% range of not having to work as much. Yay!!!
Great share Sue, thanks as always.

Hi Adrienne
I love the story you shared about your friend. And you are spot on in saying there are people who do not get it or will not understand my parking example. What prompted me to use that one was last weekend we had a food and wine festival in town. We were having a drink with a few friends. The conversation between two of them was all about the lack of parking and how they would not get a spot. Another friend starting saying he has parking angels that go on before him and get the spot. He visualizes that. The other two just though he was crazy 🙂
It is great Adrienne that you were able to help him because when we can teach someone else it means we really get it. But you know that 🙂
Thanks for your comment Adrienne. I appreciate you. Have a lovely weekend and I am looking forward to catching up next week.

Definitely useful, Sue.
Of late, I have been looking around for tips to really improve my life. I have come across many – The Four Hour Work Week being an example.
Your post is going to add to the body of that knowledge definitely…I’m also amazed (and stunned too) that ‘what you ask is exactly what you get’ (this has been my mantra for years). Believe me, really few persons know that…if the had, wishes would cease to be what they are!
Do have a great week ahead!
Always,
Terungwa
Sue Price says
Hi Terungwa
Good on you for looking for tips to improve your life (and your self I am guessing). I too am a big fan of the 4 hour work week. It is what I strive to have – a work in progress.
I know it is so sad too many people do not know how important that whole “asking” for is not understood.
It is so interesting when you listen to wealthy people share their tips for success they are so often more “mind” related than doing. Hmm I always say “success leaves clues”.
Thanks for your comment Terungwa

I cannot agree more with you, Sue.
Success can be replicated: this is brazenly demonstrated in the lives and work of the truly great – and there’s really no mystery about that.
…and this is true irrespective of the fact that one is in Australia or Africa, Europe or Asia!
Do have a blessed Sunday!
Always,
Terungwa
Sue Price says
Hi Terungwa
Well said and yes the same works no matter which part of the world we live in.
I did have a wonderful Sunday thanks. I hope you did too.
Have a successful week.

Sylviane Nuccio says
Hi Sue,
Great tips here and I love them all.
Right now I have a chart that is a circle divided in 4 quarters, one says Physical, one says mental, one says emotional and one says spiritual. I have learned (ahaha) how to find out on which one of the four I need to work on, and that’s going to be discussed in one of my upcoming posts. So his first advice here is right on.
Being resourceful is SO important, some great tip here too. What I’ve found in a lot of people is that they are waiting for others to give them answers, instead of them going to get their own answers. I’ve been doing a lot of that lately. Works great for me.
There is no progress for those who don’t work on themselves. I truly believe that, indeed. Listening to or reading about personal development daily is so much part of success.
Thank you for those wonderful tips, Sue.
Sue Price says
Hi Sylviane
I know you understand this content so well. I think even when we do though at times we need to be reminded.
Your chart sounds very interesting so I look forward to learning more about it.
Yes being resourceful is very important for sure. Especially online there is so much information available if we need to learn something so we can always find answers.
They are great tips for sure. Simple but so important.
Thanks for your comment Sylviane and see you later in the week.

Love your take on Vicks tips. I especially love the tip working on ourselves first and the tip about do the right things to get 98% of the result. I often find that I have been busy and then realize I often didn’t think of the purpose behind each action. Great reminder Sue.
Thankyou!
Sue Price says
Hi Di
Yes I also love the work on yourself first. It is no coincidence that most of the very successful people put that as number one.
And oh yes we can easily do stuff that is not going to get us the real results. It takes time though to work out what that is so it is all about learning and correcting.
Thanks for visiting me here Di and for your comment.

Hey Sue,
You know when I first heard these when I started a home business, I was more focus on making money than realizing tips like this is how anyone would make money. So I first put them aside up until I started going through a lot of experience LOL… Then of course I went back to these tips and actually started to listen to people that taught them. It does make a world of difference, especially if you want to be productive in the most convenient way! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Sherman

Hi Sue,
Just one more remarkable post from you. I started loving your blog and i’m gonna subscribe to your blog for sure.
Those five points are absolutely great and I guess Vick did well in giving simple but straight points. I liked the way you analyzed his ideas and added your own tastes to his points, thus strengthening the topic. Unique way indeed !

Hi Bhanu
Thanks again for your comment. I am thrilled to hear you love my blog – thank you! 🙂
They are five great points for sure. Even though they are simple too many people overlook the mindset and improving themselves. Or equally and perhaps even more dangerous are those people who believe if their thinking is right then things will magically come to them. Law of Attraction with no action. We of course need both.
Thanks again Bhanu.
